THE NUMBERS OF UNEMPLOYED ARE RISING AND HOUSE VALUES ARE STILL FALLING! To see the real unemployment, look at the "Not In The Labor Force" numbers at the Department of Labor. Don't trust the DOL to tell you the truth about unemployment, because their job is to confuse the issue as much as possible. If you are unemployed too long, they drop you from the ranks of the Unemployed and say that you are not in the workforce because you are not really looking for a job. It is so damned corrupt that now I no longer pay attention to the Official Unemployment Numbers. I just look at the "Not In The Labor Force" numbers and now note that they are under-counting the actual US population to hide a few million more people who can not find work. We are in a serious Depression and the government has been lying about it for years now. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ PERSONS NOT IN THE LABOR FORCE (WORK FORCE) 83,876,000 In January of 2010 86,168,000 In January of 2011 www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t16.htmMillions of people supposedly "DROPPED OUT OF THE WORKFORCE" and yet, the government wants us to believe that we are in RECOVERY. Ha!

"We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and if I am wrong … somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. … I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started. … And an enormous debt to boot."
Henry Morgenthau, Jr., New Deal Sec of the Treasury in 1939

It seems it took a world war to get us out of the economic mess brought on by Wall Street excess and Republican intransigence. Hope we don't need to do that again.

That sounds about right for the depth of liberal economic solutions .. ruinous fiscal policies favoring nothing but party loyalists or go to war if that don't work.

We are in real fiscal trouble. We know what does not work, so lets move on to busting the unions strangle hold on State Budgets. That might help a little, but how about a real serious look at all spending and see what can go. This problem is not a joke!

Ha! What were the actual unemplyment numbers during the Depression? I think they were quite a bit higher. I remember my grandmother telling me the whole world was rationing everything from gas to food to ordinary supplies.

Henry Morgenthau, Jr., New Deal Sec of the Treasury in 1939 Past is prologue it seems When was this country most prosperous? What were taxes and union representation like at that time? Certainly one would want to reproduce those conditions. Conservatives are specially enamored with recycling past failures, why not support a past success for a change? You want the country to be prosperous, so long as someone else is paying for it, either in taxes or sacrifice. Unfortunately, its more complicated than that.

Do you think it is right to recognize the cost as it is incurred or are you, like most selfish liberals, willing to let their kids and grandkids worry about the cost? You are perfectly willing to let your children and grandchildren pay for your pensions. You seem like a selfish conservative to me. I am perfectly fine with recognizing the cost of unfunded federal pensions. You are the one who denys the numbers that I posted for a pension that had no COLAs. You have told us that your pension has tripled since you retired. Wow, that would have cost way more than the 200K that I computed for a fixed pension. Hope you thank your children and grandchildren every time you see them. You ragged about Bob's County pension. It, at least, is 80% funded. Yours is 0% funded. You are part of the problem, and don't want to be part of the solution. Typical conservative.

That is what I do and all I get from you (and Bob) is some kind of snarky and envious flack. You guys are the problem. By the way, don't be late sending in your quarterly tax payment. The Golf Course and Patron need your money. I gladly serve as the conduit.

Tell all future employees of the Federal government that they will no longer have defined benefit pensions? That they will have defined contribution pensions? Advocate that current retirees accept smaller pensions, no COLAs, or both? Raise taxes so that your pension is not unfunded? Tell us what your solution is. I'm the problem? Is it that I have pointed out that your pensions are unfunded liablitys of our government? That future generations are on the hook for your pensions? When I point this out you cry and moan that your recruiter promised you. Somehow I think the most important promise to a 17 year old aztecwin was a bus ticket out of Montana. Tell us why when you sold that very successful business, so you say, that you did not exercise some more of your business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit and start a new business? Why did you scurry back to Uncle Sugar for the next 25 years of your life? Did government tit taste that good to you? Oh, I remember, you wanted to have fun. I guess drinking coffee on the government's dollar is a lot of fun, huh?

Liberal dip-sticks just refuse to see a better way. I would take a smaller pension. Maybe means testing is a way to go. Have you sent your quarterly payment in?

I am sure they will live and work in a changed world where things are funded as they become obligated.
