You can certainly build an on-campus stadium for $150 million or so but it won't be a first-class NFL stadium. The question really is do you want a first-class stadium off-campus for $0 money or an on-campus stadium at $150 million? And the NFL stadium probably would be something around 65,000 seats as opposed to 45,000 for on-campus. If SDSU elevates the football program to where it should be, we may be able to attract 60,000 + for big games. That would mean leaving a lot of money on the table for those games. I prefer an on campus stadium over a down town NFL stadium all day long. I think that if you weren't a Charger fan you'd feel the same. I want what's best for SDSU, not the Chargers.

What's best for the Chargers is probably what is best for SDSU especially if the Chargers build a new stadium at I-15 and I-8. But even if the Chargers leave San Diego, the question remains whether Qualcomm would be demolished. If the "Q" were to stay, it would be hard to justify building a new on-campus stadium. And it would be even more difficult to justify building another stadium if the City were to donate the "Q" property to SDSU.

What's best for the Chargers is probably what is best for SDSU Disagree. A 65K stadium 20 minutes from campus isn’t whats best for SDSU. This would be further for the fans (especially students), more difficult to access, and completely lacking in collegiate atmosphere. Look no further than SDSU hoops success since building Viejas Arena and moving from the Sports Arena to see what impact these things can have on a program. Even before this years unmatched success, the SDSU hoops experience is night and day from where it was. The goal should be to sell out the majority of games and provide a fantastic collegiate atmosphere. Whats best for SDSU is to be closer to campus and to have the stadium size appropriate for SDSU football…the Chargers want neither of these things. This is the only location of those presented that I wouldn’t oppose being a tenant with the Chargers. Unfortunately, the Chargers have been publically distancing themselves from this site for a number of years now. If the Chargers leave, SDSU takes over the site and IMO the thing gets demo’d within five years because it hurts the ability to develop the site and is just a goofy stadium that is too big for anything they’d use it for. I think that the choice of whether it stays or goes will ultimately be up to SDSU though.

I'd like to see an on-campus stadium with a scaled down Aztec temple at the back of one of the end zones with bench style seating on the steps of it. I think it'd be badass. Wildly unrealistic, but imagine showing that to a recruit. You could probably cut off the back of the pyramid to save space on the footprint. I'd throw $10 on that. If you're referring to a new NFL stadium, The Q or on-campus are both better locations for us and we would control the sky boxes and advertising. =Bob

Aztec Temples....WOW....now you're talking......!!!!!! Right, make the endzone seating like a pyramid and the students sit there. Perfect. Put a restaurant or something at the top.

I have three gas wells that bring me a whopping 20 bucks a month down on the old ranch in south texas. If they strike oil after the mega quake I will build a stadium and name it after Aztec Joe my hero.

Yeah, Temple and Pitt have really suffered since they started sharing state of the art NFL stadiums with NFL teams...
