We are going to boat race them in front of a big crowd. They are AWFUL. Getting a little off track here, but where did the term "boat race" come from. I've heard it used 3 or 4 times in the last week and it's a new one for me. Sorry, getting old and can't keep up with these kids and their new-fangled terms. ;D

The best thing about playing Wazzu is that we can ship Zuma back to Pullman with the team when they leave. Amen to that. Maybe they need a cougar suit for their mascot?

Call it my imagination, but I thought Wazzu was starting to turn it around the latter part of the season. It could be a gradual thing, much like their basketball this year. Now if their football recruits look bad this season then maybe their late season upturn was only a blip. Hope so anyway. You're right and they have a good QB. I don't take them lightly I still remember going to Qwest Field in Seattle and watching them whip us. We need to pay them back and as a SDSU alum and my son being a WSU alum it would be tasty. ANDY

They get Galvin (rb) back after a wrist injury and RS. If you remember Galvin was a rb that coach Hoax recruited & lost to the cougs!

True, true. There are no guaranteed wins for us. If you were a Wazzu fan you'd be writing about a new head coach and almost a new staff as virtually everyone went to Michigan. They are probably looking at catching us a little down as well. We still have a lot to prove football wise. One good season versus some really weak teams does not tell the tale. I am much encouraged about next year but I'm not willing to guarantee anything. As for calling this game a W or not I will stand on my practice of not predicting specific games until after Spring and Fall practice. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation. When Urban Meyer took off and Kyle W. took over, Ute fans thought their team would duplicate Meyers effort since he was promoted from within, like Rocky. I think they went 7-5 that year. We know what happened in the ensuing years, but Rocky inherits a different sitation for his first year. Hoke got his dream job, but he left a year early. This team will peak with Lindley this upcoming year. We also know the defense will be better, hands down. The key is Lindley who will now be THE leader as a senior. Utah lost Alex Smith the same year Meyer left so they had to break in a new QB, hence the 7-5 record. I really feel we'll be better in 2011 if Lindley stays healthy and Andy Ludwig proves he belongs. Rocky's challenging year will actually be 2012. I would agree with your analysis, we are not on different pages. My point is that although that is the way I see it at the moment, we still have to prove it. We are not at the point where logical, reasonable analysis will necessarily lead to the indicated outcome. We have to show a capability to do it on the field, which we have only done once in a decade and that against some inferior teams. I also have high hopes for next year and am constantly telling myself that we are not going to get untracked by Hoke's leaving. Nonetheless, we still have to show we are capable on the field. With that in mind, I am loathe to start saying in January that we will "boat race" Wazzu--or anyone else for that matter. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

Really? We are playing Michigan and Hoke next year and you want to talk about beating WSU? Really? If you want to talk about Michigan, as far as I know nobody's stopping you, so have at it, start a thread about them. Personally, I've seen Brady Hoke's name here more than enough recently to tide me over for the next few months.

After struggling to put NMSU away in the first half, we eventually beat them comfortably, 41-21. I can see the Wazzu game being similar. SGF? You don't think WSU is better than NMS? Huh? Actually, re-thinking it, that was indeed over the top. So no 3-TD win. Just 2 TDs.

Akin to letting the first boxer that gets a punch in hit below the belt for the rest of the fight. Stupid English.

ANDY Let's be clear here. That Aztec team had the worst defense in forever. I won't bother with the stats but in ppg, points on the year, # of opponents who had their highest score of the year, pass completion percentage, etc. that defense was just abysmal.

That and our defense is going to be SCARY good next year. I'm talking Top 20 at a minimum. Is it August yet?

K5,
I agree with you about our "D". It is going to be fun to watch and a big improvement over last season. I've got a feelin' Rocky is looking forward to visiting Ann Arbor.

Agreed. We definitely need to win this game. At home against the worst PAC school, if not BCS school. We have had better recruiting classes over the past three years, too. Coaching is a big edge to us even though I admire and respect the heck out of Paul Wulff. No excuses, we need to send a message.

Can't assume wins in January looking ahead to fall, BUT that's what we do here. So, Cal Poly can't run with us. Army may be a tougher game than some might expect. They are coming off a bowl win that was unexpected and they are well coached with Rich Ellerson, who we should all remember and never discount. I way we win something like 31-21. So, it's Monday, Sept. 12 and the hype for the then 2-0 Aztecs will begin. WSU, a BCS team, coming to town. And, when was the last time the Aztecs have beaten a BCS team??? It is a big game, last home game before conference play starts which could be well into Oct. for all we know now. I'd say there should a be a real buzz about WSU game regardless of what their record will be then. Add that it could well be the KGB Skyshow game as well. Big Deal in SD I'd say.

They are the worst team in the PAC 10 and a horrible team. Who cares if we beat them? I mean you could have talked about reviving our rivalry with Fresno State, starting one with Army, etc. To keep with the slang in this thread, whatever makes your boat float. LOL.

It's teams like WSU, UW, OSU, OU that are the reason for our recruiting troubles, not U$C and UCLA. The only thing those schools have over us is being in the PAC and if we stomp a mudhole in them it will be a big deal in winning recruiting battles with them from here on out. This game is by far more important than Army/Cal Poly and I'd say it's on par with the Michigan and CSU Fresneck games.

No offense to my pal SGF, but no one here should be prediciting a win unless any BCS team until after the first one happens. (And that would still be the case had Fatso remained because he hadn't gotten it done either.)
