Once Fontan became eligible for USC 8 games ago his minutes started disappearing quick and he transferred out because of playing time. He has talented seniors and juniors playing ahead of him and I have the same feelings about this guy as Gary Franklin .. stay where you are, work hard and earn minutes.
What's our scholie breakdown for next year? We lose 5 (maybe 6) and we have Young and Stephens signed, with Terrance Boyd a possibility ... leaving 2 open.
other possible recruits for 2011: 6'10 C Johnson 6'5 SF Blackwell 6'7 SF Rasean Simpson 6'1 PG Kevin Kaspar
reported commits for 2012: 6'8 F Cole Huff (verbal) 6'9 F/C Jon Underwood (missouri transfer)

If he wants to play for the best program on the West Coast he will transfer to SDSU.

24th best shooting guard & 97th overall in the 2010 class. I'd take him.

Jio is the real deal but, still if you can't earn time elsewhere personally I don't want here because I believe in competition and nothing should be handed to you.

So you were opposed to Abukar and Wade transferring here? this is a fair question ... but we are a totally different program now and have tremendous depth at G. Abukar replaced Chris Walton and Chris Manker and Wade got huge minutes because Slaughter turned pro early. They were also leaving much more talented programs at the time. USC is 10-8 and 7th in the pac-10. Its not like the lousiville and florida teams that had a ton of nba players on them.

This is fine & dandy, but Bryce Jones seems like a damn good player to me... we could use him at the 2/3.

Guard is not a problem for this team in 2011-12. The front line is. Remember, Xavier Thames will be eligible next year.

Bryce Jones is certainly a high level player, that would impact the team next year, but we are set at the guards and are good enough at the 3 without him, even if its a lower level player we need bigs Um, if KL does not come back we are definitely NOT set at the 3. If we don't sign any more bigs, and have to play a 3-guard offense... we are NOT set at the 3.

Bryce Jones - ESPNUNLV and Gonzaga were listed. I hope we go after him. He can play the 3 in our new 3 guard lineup. LBF / Thames Tapley / Jones / Rahon Jones / Franklin / Rahon I don't see a problem getting a stud 2/3. That would be great.

Um, if KL does not come back we are definitely NOT set at the 3. If we don't sign any more bigs, and have to play a 3-guard offense... we are NOT set at the 3. We still have Jamaal Franklin and with all the guards we have I don't see anything wrong with running a 3 guard lineup often Who do we have comming back at the 4 and 5? Alec Williams and...? Tim Shelton. We have already signed two 6'8" forwards for next year. Kevin Young and Deshawn Stephens. Kevin Young can also play SF. Count | No. | Name | Pos. | Ht | Wt. | | | Sophomore | | | | 1 | 2 | LaBradford Franklin | PG | 6--2 | 180 | 2 | 21 | Jamaal Franklin | SF/SG | 6--5 | 190 | 3 | | Xavier Thames | PG | 6--3 | 185 | 4 | | Jonathan Underwood (2012-2013) | PF | 6--9 | 215 | | | Junior | | | | 5 | 0 | Alec Williams | PF | 6--6 | 268 | 6 | 22 | Chase Tapley | SG | 6--2 | 205 | 7 | 11 | James Rahon | SG | 6--5 | 202 | 8 | | Deshawn Stephens | PF | 6--8 | 215 | 9 | | Kevin Young | PF | 6--8 | 195 | | | Senior | | | | 10 | 24 | Tim Shelton | PF/C | 6--7 | 248 |
That is 10 (without Kawhi) by my count. 3 more scholarships available.

Fisher will make sure Rahon gets his minutes. Also Thames will no doubt be starting PG and play about 30 minutes a game with some time at the 2 There will be battles for playing time as always. There is a lot of minutes available for 3 positions.

He's a 6'5" shooting guard, I would love for him to come here (and it would most likely be 2012). Maybe he ends up going to Gonzaga or UNLV, but if he wants to stay in So Cal, we are his best shot as I am assuming he wouldn't go to a Big West or WCC school.

Bryce Jones is certainly a high level player, that would impact the team next year, but we are set at the guards and are good enough at the 3 without him, even if its a lower level player we need bigs Concur. We have really good guards coming out our ears. Go get some bigs.

Oldie??? What's your take on this? We'll have several spots open next year (3 senior starters + Leonard to NBA). I checked for Tweets/News and SDSU is a front runner for Jones. Someone tweeted that he's transferring to SDSU but there's nothing to confirm this, yet. He was the highest rated recruit of his class at USC, then he loses his starting job, not a good sign. Maybe Fish can light a fire and help him mature as a player/person? Stay tuned. Oldie Out
