{{{{But I'm more pissed at Brandon and UM than I am at Hoke (how can you turn down that kind of money?). Stringing us along, potentially messing with our recruiting, etc.}}}}
Hey guys....wasn't aware that Brady hadn't spoken to the SDSU players yet...seems surprising and out of character for him....I would think he will address that asap. I wasn't very familiar with Brady until the Ann Arbor press conference today but I gotta say....wins and losses aside, above all Hoke just seems like a stand up, straightforward, genuine person who is passionate about football and, most importantly, about the kids he coaches. I gotta believe that he will address his former SDSU players as soon as he possibly can....the logistics of this decision/announcement must have been pretty crazy/whirlwind for he and his family over the past 72 hrs!?
And then re: Brandon's questionable timing....believe you me we here in Ann Arbor are just as perplexed/upset about the drawn out timetable as you guys....we all are wondering why Hoke wasn't hired weeks ago....I mean it's literally killed our 2011 recruiting class - probably even worse than yours....I think the main problem was Brandon's ingrained business/corporate america need for excessive due diligence/research....plus more importantly the imperative Brandon had to try and unify the various fragmented, warring UM factions by meeting with ALL the potential candidates first so he could truly 'justify' his eventual decision to everyone?....I don't know, believe you me we ALL would have rather he had made this decision weeks....if not a month ago!!!!
But, anyway, just know that there are no ill feelings back here in A2 towards everyone out there in beautiful SD....Hoke just really wanted to coach Michigan....and given the pitiful state of our program, Michigan just really needed Hoke....and were sorry that that then resulted in you all losing your coach....but listen we look forward to your 2011 visit to the newly renovated Big House....and we'll see you soon.....all the best Aztecs!!

beatnd, What you saw today is the real deal. Brady is as straightforward as you get, and LOVES coaching kids. UM just got a helluva lot better today, even if some of the fans don't realize it. Brady is a good guy and a great coach - which is why the way everything ended left us a bit annoyed.
Brandon should have hired Hoke back in late November and avoided the Dog and Pony show... We'll see if we recover, but Brandon's timing was blatant disregard for the welfare of any other program and reflects poorly on UM.
Congrats, you got a great guy and great coach in Brady Hoke - and I expect that he'll be in A2 for a long time. But we owe you guys one hell of an ass-whooping on 9/24.

When we almost upset #2 Ohio St. and #17 Michigan in '03 and '04, I felt like it was probably a case of one of the top teams in the country overlooking an easy opponent at home.
On Sept. 24, Michigan will not be a top 25 team and will be transitioning to a new system. We ARE a much better team than we were in those years. However, Brady Hoke will not let Michigan overlook SDSU. Obviously Hoke knows how good we are, knows our team, knows the players, knows how we play. They won't be overlooking us, at least not AS much as then - they are still human after all.
Should be a great game but i'm not gonna say it will be an a$$ kicking one way or the other.

Hey guys....so this thread came up on a google Hoke-Michigan search....and I was wondering about why so much animosity vs Michigan with re: to losing Hoke? From what I understand, it's not like Hoke was dishonest or ingenuous about his coaching career aspirations right? I mean he certainly didnt pull a Nick Saban MSU/LSU messy, lie-riddled middle of the night exodus or something like that? Didn't Hoke always make it clear that Michigan would be his destination/dream job if the opportunity ever arose?....and didnt he even say this to the SDSU AD when he was hired? I know it's alway tough to lose a good coach, but if someone is up front about their career goals/objectives and then has the opportunity to pursue them....who would want to prevent that?....in any career situation? And hey from Michigan's perspective, we desperately need a coach obviously!....our program has been destroyed by RR and we desperately need a former Michigan coach who loves and understands the program to come back home and restore a winning tradition. Harbaugh very unfortunately went pro and Miles' candidacy is not supported by many powerful people back in Ann Arbor (former coach Carr and current president Coleman to name a couple), so Hoke became the clear candidate. And that candidate really wanted the job. I don't know....it just doesn't seem like the 'chain of events' warrants such hostility. Again I know it's tough to lose a coach, but from what I've heard Hoke has done a great job there at SDSU, and I'm sure his replacement will be able to build on that success and continue taking your program to the next level. All the best to everyone there at SDSU and we look forward to seeing you all next year in the Big House! I was forced against my will to live in the Midwest for 5 years, 10 months, 2 days, 58 minutes, 54 seconds, after growing up in Southern California. I lived about an hour from the Michigan border. I need no more incentive than that to roll my eyes at the thought U. of Michigan. I guess I have a case of proximity bred distaste. Full of yourselves, you are, but that is true of all of the Big ten, twelve, fourteen or what ever else you call yourselves, alumni. No, I don't need to find Michigan revolting just 'cause Hoke left. We do have one thing in common, though. I save my highest regard for that dump in South Bend.

Potential eary season BIG upset.
By season's end it will be old news, as so many other teams will have beaten the hapless Wolverines.
I like it.
SDSU football on the rise, similar to the late 60's. History does repeat itself.

Yes, history does repeat itself. About 9 years ago, a coach they call CHUCKY jumped ship to a new team in the NFL, and faced his former team in the superbowl, annihilating them with his knowledge of players, plays, and tendencies. Well, as an AZTEC Alumnus, and big time RAIDER fan, I hope history does not repeat itself with Hoke knowing what our AZTEC players will do.
I sincerely hope we change up enough that the wolverines will not know what hit them. I do not care how Michigan does overall, with the BCS bias and all. I just want my AZTECS to beat them. I also want Ronnie Hillman to run them over like Marshall Faulk running over that USC defense back in the day.
Oh yeah, and Kyle Turley rocks. I always wanted him to be a RAIDER, he would have been a natural.
GO AZTECS

Nice boy, still your not the dominate program you think you are. (See Rose Bowl History of "Big" 10 vs the Pac 10 from day 1- not so hot Spanky). Your corn fed midwestern women will be pissed and crying after we take you apart. Yes I was in that excuse of a stadium the last time we lost by 3 and you were ranked in top 5. Quite arrogant those fans were, in particular in comparison to the Ohio State fans (attended both of our games there as well- may want to ask them their opinion of the Aztecs also). You get Flintstone, and we get the W, good trade!

Nice to see the lowered expectations . #2 Bringing up the Rose Bowl record is kind of weak. The Big Ten always traveling out to the west coast to play the Pac 10 champ in their own back yard. If that game were played in Chicago or Indianapolis I'd imagine you'd see a much different record. #3 This guy didn't seem that arrogant, don't know why your on his case.

So in bad weather the Big When has an advantage? 3) Simple they are this years new version of YBU.
