^^^So illustrate to me this wolverine fan: EXACTLY what does Michigan have going for IT? Deer hunting?? Your state is dying a slow death and has NOTHING going for it - NOTHING.

Outdoor hockey, black flies, moose, mosquitos, negative growth rate, roller derby, Bob Seger(sp?). I'm sure there is more.

Last numbers I saw California had the same unemployment rate as Michigan: www.bls.gov/web/laus/lauhsthl.htmThrow in California's debt problems, pot calling the kettle black here? Just saying. Michigan wouldn't exactly be my first choice of residence but their are certainly some areas that aren't horrible

Michigan is in a secular downturn. No business wants to move to Michigan and the existing industries are dying. CA will be fine and come out of the recession quicker than Michigan because CA is the home of innovation and has a diverse business mix. Plus, it is January and the sun is out and I am wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

Really? This thread has morphed into a debate about Detroit/Michigan's economy and whether California is a better place to live?

In addition to kicking the crap out of Hoke's Wolverines, I just found out that State could probably be successful in seeking an injunction barring Hoke from coaching Mich. at least for this next year.
I know its probably not smart, but my sports law professor just told me its likely successful. He also said it would be very dumb business-wise haha, in case any of you thought the same thing.
Just thought it was interesting. any law nerds interested see 17 Mass. L. Rptr. 443 (2004)

#2 Bringing up the Rose Bowl record is kind of weak. The Big Ten always traveling out to the west coast to play the Pac 10 champ in their own back yard. If that game were played in Chicago or Indianapolis I'd imagine you'd see a much different record. So the Big 10 traveling all the way out west led to those loses. The Aztecs have played twice at Ohio State and Michigan. Is it just as hard for us to go all the way the other direction and win? When will you play us here? In case you didn't notice the Big 10 played a team from Texas all the way out there, this year. They didn't fare much better

That "all the way out west" excuse is really weak, and quite tired. Didn't seem to affect Auburn traveling all the way to Arizona to play in Oregon's "backyard." The Big 10 is not what it used to be, and it shows every bowl season. It would show more in early non-conference games, if they didn't schedule the little sisters of the poor, to borrow a line from Dr. Gee.

It would show more in early non-conference games, if they didn't schedule the little sisters of the poor, to borrow a line from Dr. Gee. Both Auburn and Oregon did not look particularly great in that game. I mean last year's Ohio State team beat Oregon more convincingly in a setting closer to Oregon. Just because Auburn won doesn't mean it didn't have an effect. #2 Bringing up the Rose Bowl record is kind of weak. There was nothing to suggest that either team didn't belong in that game. That's a contrast from say some of the Rose Bowl's out west against USC (or UCLA back when they were good enough to make Rose Bowls)..where the Rose Bowl is definitely the backyard of SC/UCLA

Weather comes into play as well as it SUCKS in the midwest from Oct-May (I know I served a 5 year stint in CHGO-ugggggh). This discussion is mute- check the historical record of the "Big" 10 versus the Pac When and the Rose Bowl. Nuff said.

By my quick counting.. the Pac 10 leads the Big Ten 31-28 all time in the series which is actually a more even record then I would have guessed. The Pac 10 actually notched a good number of victories against Non-Big Ten schools before the Big Ten-Pac 10 agreement was made.
