Starting to do a little shopping for the MWC tourney trip - assume SWA is the way to go. What about hotels? I'm not a big Vegas guy, would rather save my $ for Aztec MWC Champs T-Shirts ;D

I will be there! I've already made reservations for an 'extra vacation' from at a timeshare in Vegas (ironically, the one next the South Point Casino where SDSU just played). I plan on driving though.

I'm not a big Vegas guy, would rather save my $ for Aztec MWC Champs T-Shirts ;D Best bet is to cruise the various WEB sites. The Las Vegas Advisor can sometimes come up with some good rates. But if you REALLY want to score good rates, when you're in town pick up a couple of players cards from hotel casinos, pop a couple of rolls and wait for the freebies to show up in the mail. (For example, I get excellent deals at The M at the far south end of LV BLVD. I haven't paid for a room there yet. Same at Tuscany, any MGM property, Silverton, both Cannery's....get the picture?). As far as the tournament for me, I've been going to PADS spring training far longer than the tournament has existed, (my favorite time of the baseball season), but one of these days, if not this year I'll try and stagger the two events so I can go to both. (For me, the tournament is held at the best time to be in Zona).

When you're in Vegas for the tourney, if you don't have at least one, pick up some players cards, go to Vegas a couple of times throughout the year do some modest play and you'll get steady returns. And then next year your rooms at the tourney just may be comped..

Deciding which would be better...MWC Tourney or 1st Weekend of the Tourney. Never been to MWC Tourney, but the opening weekend of the tourney is FUN! Great fun sitting in a sports bar (usually they have rooms set up for this) and watch game after game, making a 4 day weekend of it!

The Oracle usually goes to the MWC tourney because it is a blast, but this year is going to be different. The Oracle will use his money to go to the big dance. You know it's your duty to save up some cash to be at the big dance supporting our boys.

A boat load of ATalkers went to Salt Lake City for the opening round against Indiana a few years back. It was a great time (until RW dribbled it off his foot...). I highly recommend it and suspect we will be playing closer to San Diego this year...

Me and some of the bro's will be at the Hard Rock...good rates right now. The block of rooms is sold out, but still good discounts on their website...just look under "Specials" and then winter rates (or something like that).

Also, I would recommend checking Hotels.com as I have gotten good rates from them before. Most times it is a non-refundable rate though.
