Usually doesn't when it's been an open secret for weeks.

Utah State's Danny Sprinkle has accepted the head coaching job at Washington, sources told ESPN.
Sprinkle had emerged as one of the hottest candidates on the carousel this spring after leading Utah State to its first-ever outright Mountain West regular-season title in his first season with the program. He also led the Aggies to their first NCAA tournament win since 2001, beating TCU on Friday, 88-72.
Utah State's season ended Sunday with a 106-67 loss to top-seeded Purdue.
When Sprinkle took over at Utah State last spring, he returned zero players

Worst kept “secret”, been out there for a week.
I feel kinda bad for USU losing him after only one season. The Aggies are a strong, passionate fan base. This after Stew Morrell was there forever. Now a revolving door of very successful head coaches.
That said they’ve crushed it hiring good coach after good coach but sooner or later you’ll get one that won’t be successful.
I wonder if Osobor will follow Sprinkle to Seattle? I’m sure Sprinkle will want to bring him.
I also wonder if Osobor might be interested in coming to the Mesa? Would we want him? He’d be a great Ledee style replacement, not sure his D is up to snuff?
The continuity, class and winning might be attractive to Osobor. Doubt UW is winning much next year in the B10. UW will probably have some good NIL to throw around.

Usually doesn't when it's been an open secret for weeks. I was mostly referring to 1 year at U St Inherited a program with zero returning production and took them to the tournament in pretty impressive fashion, yesterday aside. So, yeah, not unexpected.

Sprinkle was able to bring two really good players with him from Montana State in Osobor and Brown. He had a pretty good start right there. But yeah, he did a great job in year one.

They were his 2 best players at USU, they were both terrific All-MWC performers on a championship team.

Doesn't change the fact the team returned no production at all. Building a program from scratch is impressive, especially stepping up levels in competition in a difficult conference.

Not denying that he did a great job. They may not have had any returning production, but he brought in two players that were better than what he had the previous year, although Ashworth is good and he went to Creighton, but Brown filled that void very well. I'm just stating a fact that he had a really good start with two really good players that he has coached before and knows his system. A nice starting foundation. Two of the best players on USU. So yeah, he had a nice head start there. Saying he started from scratch is a bit deceiving.

You still have to hope those players can level up from Big Sky talent (not a good conference) to the Mountain West. Fortunately, both made the jump with flying colors. Bringing in Johnson, Martinez, Uduje and a solid core in a single offseason is a heck of a job. I'm glad he's moving on, honestly.

The hype was already there with those two. He also had Mason Falslev coming back who ended up starting every game, and averaged 11 points. I mean Osobor was Player of the Year. I'm glad he's gone as well. Not taking anything away from him. He did an incredible job. Just putting a little perspective to it.

Best of luck with that Job. It is going to be tough to compete crossing the nation every other week. It will pay him well and there aren't too many open slots out there that are attractive.
Okie State, and Louisville are the only two that I think are better places to win and get paid.

The team was literally picked ninth in the Mountain West preseason poll, so the brains didn't agree with your surface level analysis.

Just sucks for Utah St that every time they get a coach that gets them to the tourney they immediately leave for greener pastures. Hard to build a sustainable program that way. Would be nice if coaches committed to at least three years when they are hired but that's never going to happen.
