He, along with teammate Amey, were seeking 6 figures and he got it & then some from Boise. We were never a player. Speaking of MWC players, John Tonje is in the portal. Averaged 16 per game against us in 2023, and we were interested in him last year before he went to Missou. Got hurt last summer, and decided to med RS after 8 or so games last year. He's a dawg who draws fouls and can shoot the 3. If healthy, which he should be, he's dangerous. Very Matt Bradley like, but arguably a better defender. Butler, Waters & Tonje would be one of the best backcourts anywhere.

Considering that, I question whether the Aztecs could offer a salary anywhere near that amount, but yes would be a great add, so long as we secure a post player and have a point guard option. www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/aztecs/story/2023-03-28/san-diego-state-sdsu-aztecs-basketball-nil-name-image-likeness-miami-final-four-nigel-pack-ncaa-tournament

But I also don't know if he'd beat out Byrd to start at the 3, although we do need depth and more minutes at the 3.

I would venture a guess that SDSU has responded to numerous players that are in the Portal to see if they are interested in SDSU - and if they do not respond would guess that the SDSU coaches move on to guys that do respond -
That is probably the cases for the Guard and 4/5 that have visited - they showed some interest and have visited
Not sure what happened to the guard from Fresno ?

He'd start without a doubt, or he's not coming here. It'd be Waters or Byrd. Don't think Byrd would be opposed to coming off the bench, especially knowing he'd be the 6th man and getting 20+ minutes across 3 positions every night.

And a good point about Byrd's best value (for now) maybe being his ability to play anything 1-3 off the bench... and on some nights quite likely playing more minutes than one of the starters in those roles. But I think he could be LeDee-caliber in terms of impact the following season.

Miles was quoted as saying he didn't plan on being here longer than 3 years. Not sure if he has the mindset to come off the bench any longer.
