If Leon Rice isn’t a good coach why has he beat us 6 out of the last 7? The MW teams don’t do well in the tournament because they aren’t built like the need to be. They don't do well in the Tournament because they don't get the luxury of playing at altitude. UNLV would have won a game in the tournament.

Boise also doesn’t get the calls in the tournament they do when playing in the MWC. They only had 6 free throw attempts against Colorado vs. 18 against us on our home court.

Fair point, it’s also probably why they losses 17 layups. They were looking for calls instead of making the buckets. They actually looked better than Colorado. The MW bases on the seeds, performed as expected. People are taking swings at the MW but they were given 5, 8, 10 Playin, 10 Play in, 10, and 11. On a pure seed basis you expect to split the play in games and win the 8 and 5 seeded games. That’s what happened. The MW met their expected wins. The MW needs to play harder games in ooc.

Totally agree. They are taking swings at the MWC when we got seeded lower by a lot. Utah St. was projected as a #5 in virtually every bracketologist seeding. Nevada was supposed to be a 7 and got 10. I think CSU and NM were seeded about right. Boise also should have been a 7 instead of a 10. Now you hear Danny Hurley saying the BIG East got screwed with only getting in 3 teams because they are playing so well. What a joke! They were a #1, Marquette was a #2 and Creighton was a #3. No upsets there. They did what they were supposed to do. Rarely do Big East teams play strong OOC schedules preferring the do the Syracuse model of never leaving NY and playing everything at home or cupcakes nearby. At best they play one neutral and than beat up on each other and hope by going 9-9 in conference with their bloated 12-2 non conference record they get in the tourney. Well it caught up to them and I'm glad!

If you're gonna go after bad MWC coaching in the dance, Rice is the wrong coach to start a thread about. True, Rice is still o-fer-NCAAs, but as others have pointed out, that had very little to do with coaching and very much to do with his players not executing.
Now Alford on the other hand, that up 17 points gag job is all on him. He had them playing prevent offense with WAY too much time on the clock. His players would beat the press and then pull back and run clock instead of being aggressive. Horrid coaching.

I think he gave his son too much freedom and it caught up to them. They were up 49-45 with 4 minutes left. The hot hand was Agbo and he should have designed some plays for him. Just not a fan of Rice’s offense being better than Dutcher’s which many have said here. Still zero wins in the NCAA. If Dutcher had zero people would be calling for his head here.

If he did go to another school would be interesting to see what players might go with him

Colorado was a very good team and in some ways mirrored how boise was built. I don’t think that was embarrassing or anything, the unm showing and nevada choke are a different story. Was shocked how bad stanley was but don’t blame that on Leon

you are only as good as the players you can add to a school
can a HC recruit players either via HS or more importantly now - being able to attract players from the Portal
also how does the school assist you with NIL and facilities to get the correct players
would say as others point out he has been able to beat SDSU even on SDSU's home court
