THESE are impressive numbers. Does he start in AA next year? I think he makes a push for the roster early. What he's doing right now in the AFL is insane. He hit a ball tonight that might have landed in Scottsdale.

Or maybe he could play first base? He's played everywhere. Second, third, left, shortstop, DH, right. I don't think he's going to play right in the majors, but the bat has been incredible.

That double AA Missions team has a lot of interesting players on both the pitching an hitting sides of the game. I really like the potential of Snelling/Mazur/Bergert and Iriate as starting pitchers. Add to Pauley there are some nice bats in 1B Martorella, SS Merrill and CF Marsee. Given the look of this group we may have some home grown talent knocking on the door as soon as next year. And then their is the matter of Mr. Salas to think about as well.

Arizona Fall League Friday night: LF Nathan Mattorella moved a runner up with a fly ball, then lined out hard to left, had a bloop single, then popped out to 3rd. Graham Pauley (3B) drove in a run with a sac fly, struck out twice, and hit into a force play. The best Padre on Friday was pitcher Enmanuel Pinales. 1.2 innings of lights out relief.

Not Pauley related, but Surprise beat Mesa on Saturday 10-2. Surprise had 6 hits, and were 1-9 with RISP. And walked 16 TIMES!!! Somehow, the game only took just over 2 1/2 hours.

Game 2 of 3 today at Goodyear Ballpark features Scottsdale against Peoria. Marsee (CF), Pauley (3B), and Martorella (1B) in the starting lineup representing the Padres.

Jakob Marsee was 2-3 with a K, Nathan Martorella was 1-3 with a 4-3 ground out, K, and a screaming double to RF, Graham Pauley was 0-3 with a pop to SS and 2 K's--both looking.
Marsee would look good in CF at Petco by 2025.
Cole Paplham (San Antonio) pitched a 1-2-3 7th inning for Peoria, but they lost to Scottsdale 3-1.

Marsee still among the leaders in several offensive categories in the Fall League. A fun ball player to watch. Good hitter, covers lots of ground in CF, and he is quick on the bases as well.
Center fielder. Hmmmm...
And, the Peoria team has some nice prospects from other franchises as well.
Such a fun league to watch in person.

About as shocking as the obsession with getting rid of Grisham for peanuts without any real idea of what/who will/is an actual improvement at the position.

I'm obsessed with getting Grisham out of the starting lineup, and into a backup role. At the same time, I realize we may be stuck with him batting number nine again next season. Ugh.
