How is this team so bad offensively?
They should be starting to settle in now, but they're not. So weird that with all that talent we can't get more hits and score more runs.

I'll worry about their overall performance at the All Star Break. Too many ups and downs until then, unless they all of a sudden get 10 games behind near that time frame.

And I generally agree with the idea that it is VERY early still, however... It's just damned odd that they're not hitting the way they should be, and we're heading towards 10% of the season being done. Bogaerts is killing it. Kim is doing well. Machado is doing well. But... where's everyone else? Soto?? Grisham starts to look like he found his swing, and then he goes into the tank for a game or two. Have we been to the Crone zone yet? Is it possibly the hitting coach? With that many guys underperforming I would think that's certainly a possibility.

Guess it's a good thing then that Fernando returns Thursday after hitting three home runs last night and tying a franchise record for El Paso with eight RBI.

Hopefully he can do half as well against Major League pitching. If he can, maybe he can be the spark plug that gets this engine running smoothly.

... Have we been to the Crone zone yet? Last week in Atlanta… but this week he is playing the role of Mendoza.

There's no point in doing so at this time, if you follow the larger trends like I do. Watched a lot of baseball the first couple of weeks, being .500 at this point is absolutely fine.

… what a horrible start. Jeebus. 4–0 Milwaukee, and they're still in the top of the first.
Wacha's thrown over 30 pitches already. Brewers just pounding him. Padres will be hitting the BP early and often tonight.
I'll be very surprised if the Padres can come back from this first inning KO …
Well, so much for Wacha's "great start" in San Diego. It was like he was throwing batting practice tonight.
Now it's 5–0. He's going to take it in his AZZZZZZZZZtecs for the team tonight. He's gotta go at least a few more innings.

Wacha pitching Wack tonight. Might need to yank him, real quick like. Don't want to use up your bullpen so early, but....

When Voit goes 2-2 without a K, you know there's something going on with the pitching - UGH - 67 pitches through 3 innings.
Meanwhile, Eric Lauer is buzzing through the Padres like a chainsaw.

Yeah, definitely not Wachas day. At least they're not using up the bullpen at this point. Let's get some runs!!!

Wacha gives up another HR and Grisham blows a catch. Might as well pack this one up, light a match to it, let 'er cook, drop it in the toilet, and flush 'er all the way out to sea.
On the bright side, currently a one hitter for Lauer, (11 hitter for Wacha). Jeebus. Lotta Seidler money going down the toilet without ever hitting a bat - along with tonight's game … 7–0 Brewers.
Voit gets another hit. LOL
Lauer gives up a run and a few more hits, but he is still mowing down these hapless, hitterless, Padres.
No, they can't hit every game.
But can they hit in a few? Two in a row??
Another night of disappointing performances …

Rough night in the bigs. 147 more to go. Yes, it's still a long time until we even get to summer, and then there's going to be a long summer to come after that. History and probability both strongly suggest that individually and collectively, they'll come though with flying colors. Hopefully those flying colors allow them to play well into fall.
