This summary is from on3.com
Transfer portal background information The NCAA Transfer Portal, which covers every NCAA sport at the Division I, II and III levels, is a private database with names of student-athletes who wish to transfer. It is not accessible to the public.
The process of entering the portal is done through a school’s compliance office. Once a player provides written notification of an intent to transfer, the office enters the player’s name in the database and everything is off and running. The compliance office has 48 hours to comply with the player’s request and that request cannot be refused.
Once a player’s name shows up in the portal, other schools can contact the player. Players can change their minds at any point and withdraw from the portal. However, once a player enters the portal, the current scholarship no longer has to be honored. In other words, if a player enters the portal but decides to stay, the school is not obligated to provide a scholarship anymore.
The database is a normal database, sortable by a variety of topics, including (of course) sport and name. A player’s individual entry includes basic details such as contact info, whether the player was on scholarship and whether the player is transferring as a graduate student.
A player can ask that a “do not contact” tag be placed on the report. In those instances, the players don’t want to be contacted by schools unless they’ve initiated the communication.
The portal has been around since Oct. 15, 2018 and the new calendar cycle within the portal begins each August. For example, the 2021-22 cycle started Aug. 1. During the 2020-21 cycle, 2,626 FBS football players entered the transfer portal (including walk-ons). That comes after 1,681 entered during the 2019-20 cycle and 1,709 during the abbreviated 2018-19 cycle. In comparison, 1,833 Division I basketball players entered the portal during the 2020-21 cycle after totals of 1,020 in 2019-20 and 1,063 in 2018-19.

would guess that Aztec coaches review the Portal Daily and send out notes to any recruit they think they might be interested in - but of course doubt they let that much information out to the general public ( except Gundo/Digger )
then the coaches hear what guys in the Portal respond back to them that they might be interested in the Aztecs

Mike Mitchell, Pepperdine, seems perfect for our system and would be a huge upgrade if Trammell doesn’t return. I’m just guessing Trammell has a COVID year he can still use.

correct DT does get an additional season - and wonder If he chose to transfer out - if he would need to be a Grad transfer so he would not have to sit -
5'10 Guards can have a lot of trouble against the higher rated and taller guards in addition when he has to switch onto a player at the 4or 5 position there is even more trouble - hope DT if he is back is more of a role player next season

Mike Mitchell, Pepperdine, seems perfect for our system and would be a huge upgrade if Trammell doesn’t return. I’m just guessing Trammell has a COVID year he can still use. The fact Trammell didn't go through senior night is a very good indicator he has every intention of coming back, which is what the staff wants. I could see Mitchell being a solid replacement for Seiko though. Might overlap some with Byrd though both are combo guards, but playing Mitchell more off the ball wouldn't be a bad idea.

Man. I hate the idea of going into next year with Butler and Trammell as our starting backcourt.

6'9" Jeremiah Oden in the portal. Whomever picks him up will better their squad. I'd take him in a heartbeat. Oden averaged 9.6 PPG and 3.6 RPG in 30 games/19 starts. He made 32 3-pointers shooting 34.4% behind the arc.
Wyoming now has 6 players in the Portal, doesn't bode will for Linder & the Pokes who have 8 spots to fill.

6'8" 220 Lb Jonathan Mogbo is a stat sheet filler. Multiple double digit rebound games, lead the team in rebounds, blocks and steals and can score at bit. He is a traveler, grown from Juco (Independence CC) to (Northeastern Oklahoma A&M ) to MVC (Missouri State) to ...?

Dinwiddie on the move again. Just an observation, not a recommendation. His stock is dropping. Ome time City CIF POY, may be looking at DII now.

Another ex-Aztec recruit, KJ Allen is in the portal. The 6'6" 255 Forward is leaving Texas Tech, previously at USC and ELAC (Last Chance U on Netflix) just an observation, not a recommendation. THe Aztecs were number #2 behind USC after Last Chance U ended.

Man. I hate the idea of going into next year with Butler and Trammell as our starting backcourt. This. Find a actual 6’3 plus SG. Trammell be Seiko as a PG, because he shouldn’t be a starter next year.
