After watching the pathetic attempts to hit Dodgers pitching I’m reminded of a quote from that movie The Natural:
“Well, we sure the hell need something.”

Should have kept Voit, if that was indeed a thing. You're not really worried about a bench DH in the playoffs. He's not capable of playing the field, so it's in essence a wasted roster spot. When Fernando returns, there's more than enough power. I don't really see it as a waste. Most games don't go 13 innings. It's very rare that there is a game where we use all of our position players. Plus, we have a ton of positional flexibility with Kim, Cronenworth, Drury, Nola. That lowers the need for an extra position player (and obviously Franimal could play RF in a pinch). There is real value in having a strong pinch hitter off the bench. Just like there is real value in having a fast pinch runner off the bench. In an ideal world, we would have an extremely quick utility player off the bench (basically Kim on days where we have someone other then Manny or Tatis at DH), and a power pinch hitter who could be used as a RF or 1B in a pinch. Franmil would fit that bill if he could figure it out as a hitter again. Really it's more about tradeoffs then anything else. And it's really not worth the tradeoff because the only person he could pinch hit for is the DH. You're not putting him in right field late in a playoff game.

Yeah I see what you're saying - you don't want to burn Franimal + defensive substitution for Franimal for one pinch hit at bat. You still can do that - technically he can pinch hit for anyone - but I get what you're saying. You also could use him as a pinch hitter in the 8th or 9th, where he would only have to play defense for an inning or so. But you have a valid point. Pinch hitters that can't play D (who could be useful pre-DH in the National League) aren't as much anymore.

The team just needs to get on track offensively.

Maybe they are waiting for Tatis, all of the bats have been quiet since they mortgaged the farm.

Right, but what I'm saying is that Tatis can't bring them out of their slump on his own. Having said that, I'm soooo looking forward to when this team puts it all together offensively. I think they will. I hope Cronenworth is part of the one's that get it together, as well.

The Franimal is on FIRE with the Cubs, hitting .341 slugging .659!
Yes, the slumping Padres could use him.

Our DH, who he would have replaced, had a 2-run homer and Myers, who would have sat for Bell, was 1-2 & a BB. Reyes will continue to trend down. We didn't need him. We have enough DH types.

The Franimal is on FIRE with the Cubs, hitting .341 slugging .659! Yes, the slumping Padres could use him. The logical fallacy of assuming X player is hitting on one team so he's guaranteed to hit elsewhere is just that.
