I guess if Horton gets fired, our chances to landing him improve? Oldie Out There is no reason to think Horton is being fired. That only is a popular theme on this board of the disgruntal after a 9-3 season. Wake me when Rocky fires Horton. This is sad if true. Horton personally responsible for why SDSU is not playing in today's MW championship game and a chance for an NY6 bowl game. Need a new OC stat.

Big question does Rocky want the QB to be the focal point of the offense and what style of offense does he want to have . Watch the games today and see how important the QB is for most of the teams .
Do understand that next year we do get the RB transfer from Nebraska but think most teams will continue to load the box and make our QB beat them . Thought there was progress by our WR's but they need to get the ball to really develop .
Bottom line Game Manager QB or one that could make things happen - all starts from the HC to OC
If Sears is out there and if the staff thinks he is a difference maker do they really make solid effort to go after him or wait and watch as he goes to another school and say we could not promise him the starter job . Decision time for Rocky and his real approach to the QB position

247 showing Sears as 100% for SDSU. Wow I posted, maybe a week ago, that it is 75% he is cling to State... more like 90% now... I Multiple folks now projecting him to the Aztecs... I am still at 90%...

I hope this is true.
If we were to land him. This is the type of recruit (when factoring in that we are smaller school that he is coming to), you shape an offense around him. You don't fit him into your offense, you fit an offense around him. OC's can get stubborn and refuse to change. Big programs can get away with that. However, not a MWC school that lands a 4-5 start QB. You find out the type of QB he is and the best style where he can flourish the most in and that is what you implement. You give him the keys to the offense. He still needs a good position coach and OC around him, no doubt, and still needs to develop. However, a guy like this coming to the mountain west can dominate. The guy ran a 4.66 in high school. So, he can definitely move within and out of the pocket, when needed. Would we run a west coast under the center offense with heavy passing and play action, or do we go 4 wide out of the shotgun every place?

If/when we land Sears, the "cupboard is bare" excuse won't work anymore, especially at the QB position. Let's air it out, like back in the day.

did see that the Beavers got commitment from a stand out JC QB . But also noted that USU will very likely lose their QB Jordan Love .

Yes, he went to U$C, but slipped from 2nd string as a freshman to 4th as a sophomore....not exactly encouraging progress.

Another classic case of being another small fish in a big pond full of 5 star players (with more arriving every year). Why not be a big fish in a small pond? Come to SDSU. Oldie Out

Yes, he went to U$C, but slipped from 2nd string as a freshman to 4th as a sophomore....not exactly encouraging progress. Because they knew he was gone after this season anyways. Meanwhile, Fink recommitted himself to USC. Putting, Sears at 4th quieted any chance of the same controversy as last year when the lockerroom was split on Sears/Daniels. I'd go with the lockerrom over coaches playing politics.

When will we know if he's coming here?

think he is hoping to graduate in December . Go would be grad transfer . Thought he hoped to enroll at a school for the Jan 2020 semester so he could practice with new school and play in Spring Football game . Thus compete for starting QB for Fall 2020 . So basically whatever time he needs to be able to attend school in Jan .
No clue if he is still waiting to see all options or has made a decision or what Rocky has told him about QB situation at SDSU

Putting him on the team might just boost the Aztecs recruiting a bit.

He has verballed to SDSU. You never know until the ink is dry next week on the LOI, or even more so until classes start in January. Plus, not sure on what role Morgan played in getting him here or if him leaving has any impact. But as of last week he's scheduled to enroll in January.
