No SDSU on the list and hesaid he prefers to go closer to his home in GA. Apparently the "do not contact" tag wasn't taken seriously, or was false reporting altogether. Yep.

This guy sounds like a good fit. Would surely appreciate playing with a team that emphasizes tough defense. As long as he wants to play in a team oriented style, rather than audition for the NBA every night while masquerading as an Aztec team player.

Why would he look at us and why would we look at him? We have Jordan, Matt, Keshad and Che all available at the 3 this year. If he was a sit out transfer or a young big, sure. The guy is talented but the fit isn't there. Round peg square hole.

He might look at the Aztecs because he wants to go to the Big Dance during his last year of college.

He might look at the Aztecs because he wants to go to the Big Dance during his last year of college. There are a lot of teams that fit that profile who aren't already loaded at the 3. If Matt stays in the draft, which is unlikely, it'd make a little more sense. At this point we're recruiting for the 2022 season and beyond. A FR, especially one willing to sit, and a sit out make more sense IMO.

Smith would help us significantly even with the odd fit, but it wouldn't make sense for him unless matt leaves

Agree that a Big would be best, whether a GTR or a freshman.
However, the NAMES are disappearing from the available pool, and the Aztecs do not have one.
Justin Smith can play inside and defend. He started every game for Indiana last year. The Big 10 is a very physical conference and he did well. He certainly could help the Aztecs.

It's quite clear the aztecs are also looking at sit out transfers

Dutch isn't a fan of having more than 11 or 12 eligible players anyway, so leaving a scholarship open like we did this year is fine. We're recruiting primarily for '22, but if the transfer rule changes next year we'll have 1000+ names to choose from of which 100+ could help us. Adding someone now is just frosting. There's no reason for this kid to come to a senior laden team where his minutes will be limited, nor any reason for us to seek him out. It's not a good fit, no matter how talented he is.
