The first ten people in the LA phone book would likely do as well, or better, than these payasos we have now.

I am not sure if Eddie O. can coach consistently, but one thing is for sure- he would bring in absolute studs at a level SDSU has not seen. This one of the reasons I favor him. Absolute worst case scenario he leaves us with a roster full of stallions for the next coach. He has four natties, has coached under Jimmy Johnson, Dennis Erickson, Pete Carrol, Les Miles, and Paul Pasqualoni. Kids trip over themselves to play for him. Watch the LSU-Auburn game from this weekend and listen to what the announcers said about the frosh DL who committed to LSU as soon as they heard he was going to be there.

I think Barbers would be a great candidate but as long as he can bring Sterlin Gilbert with him who I wanted to be our OC instead of Horton. Tulsa hired Gilbert away from Bowling Green this past winter. Gilbert is on the Briles/Babers/Montgomery coaching tree and was the OC when Barbers beat us. He's a young guy with a lot of potential and would be a solid choice to replace Barbers if a bigger school comes to take him away.
Hoke did by far the best job of putting together a staff that could be successful since I've been following Aztec football. A successful veteran DC of the MW and a long time successful pro style OC. Rocky's biggest problem is that he's had to constantly deal with a change at the OC position and it's taken a toll to the point where he had to hire a guy with the portion of one season as OC who no other program in the country would have hired to be their OC.
We need to hire a HC who can bring a young exciting OC and steal away an assistant from a successful program known for their defense. Kids today want to play for a fast paced high scoring offense not some boring offense. And TV networks want to show a game where there's going to be flash and a lot of scoring. And fans are going to come to see a college game if they might see 50 points instead of good solid football where you might see us score 20-30 points.

I was impressed with the turn around Coach O did at USC with the dumpster fire Kiffen left him. I was a bit surprised they didnt retain him. Would have been a perfect time to pick him up, but perhaps this off-season will be the opportunity.

The program is stagnant and the alumni, fans and likely the players are dying for some excitement to be instilled. I remember when Hoke was hired and the staff he brought in & how I was genuinely excited for Aztec football again. I'll have some more of that please.

SDSU should definitely hire Dino Babers. After all, he defeated the guy we all think should be fired. One time.

hopefully Auburn will keep losing and Gus Malzahn will be available. Scott Frost would be good, Ed Orgeron seems realistic, the other two aren't taking non-p5 jobs as is any big name coach. Non-p5 is where coaches come to retire. Not necessarily. Csuck and Fresneck both took SEC Assistant Coaches. Csuck has since lost theirs but he gave the program a jump start it needed to build new facilities. They chose to go back to the well again when they hired Bobo from Georgia. The reality is that we're not going to get a young up and coming coach who would stay if he was successful. I have no problem with a 3 year HC if he kicked this program in gear. I thought Brady was on his way to doing that but who really knows what would have happened if he had stayed a little longer. Houston just hired Ohio State's OC who appears to be doing well so far. I'd love to get an Urban Meyer disciple as there's no doubt in my mind he's the best HC out there and seems to do something that nobody else does. what is his magic formula? Hire one of this people and find out.

Too old now. That ship has sailed. We need a coach in his mid 40's to mid 50's if we replace Rocky. Did you say that when Fish was hired?

He would be a good HC, and I would take Wilcox as the DC.

SDSU should definitely hire Dino Babers. After all, he defeated the guy we all think should be fired. One time. I tend to agree with you. Question: Would Babers consider SDSU a step up on the coaching ladder? If he continues to succeed where he now is, it is not unlikely that a Power Five school might want him. If that's so, we have no chance. As far as I can tell, Babers is making $400,000 a year. The 800K that Rocky is getting would seem to be enough to lure Babers if the guy is not biding his time waiting for a P5 job. Question: Does anybody know of any negatives about Babers? AzWm

That is a very low end HC salary. The budget for our next coach needs to be $1M+ Mike Norvell makes more than at as an OC.
