You do know Watson wanted to come to sdsu out of high school but we didn't think he was good enough for an offer, right? Yes it's in the same article, he had a blister when Fish came to watch And he didn't play well. He admits he had some growing to do. Really don't care about that, what I like is that he takes pride in wanting to support his hometown. He wanted to be here all along which is even better. I won't get into our talent evaluating, we thought Zabo was better, think most on this board could have watched both play in HS and saw who had the most potential. That's another topic for a different thread. One more...when I said hometown pride is dead I was referring to Cherry and McCoy...

What a colossal waste of 15 min.

As much as these past few recruiting years have hurt us, it only takes one guy to change the makeup of a team. I still have hope that we can get land that type of player.

We need some solid front court players, Watson and Hemsley should be able to get the ball into the paint. MissesCheatham, MBB Transfer to ASU McCoy, HS '17 to UNLV Wooten, HS '17 to Oregon Hamdy-Mohamed, Grad Transfer to TCU Daniels, Transfer to NC State Jackson, Transfer to New Mexico Bigby-Williams, Transfer to LSU Norris, HS '18 to Oregon Cherry, HS '18 to USC Bradley, HS '18 to CAL HitsRooks, Grad Transfer from CAL

The style of play has to change, Watson is active so we have a real PG that can play through Malik. Scoring and pace needs to improve. Guys aren't going to come if we play a slow down offense and shoot 40%.

Seems like we should have closed somebody? Could it be our past history of loyalty to the guys already on the roster, maybe they aren't confident they can earn enough PT? If I was the opposing teams recruiter, I would point that out. Seems like we lose most of these guys to the power conferences, but not all.

If I was the opposing teams recruiter, I would point that out. Seems like we lose most of these guys to the power conferences, but not all. They're visiting because our style DOES fit their needs. We wouldn't be in their consideration set otherwise. McCoy didn't go to Vegas due to pace of play; Menzies has never been known for being uptempo. Quite the opposite. Our offensive pace of play is the same as Oregon's, so we didn't lose Norris due to that either. TCU runs a significantly slower paced offense than we do so Hamdy obviously didn't go there due to that. It's not pace of play that's hurting this team in recruiting. Players know talent dictates the style of offense & tempo. They just need to trust the coaching staff to use them properly, so it's about building the best relationship with a player. Being a P6 definitely helps & wins most tiebreakers. McCoy was apparently more influenced by his guardian & friend who committed to UNLV than anything else. Cherry was apparently influenced by his Seattle buddies going there. Does anyone really believe Jackson to NM was about pace of play? Get real. The "recruits aren't coming here due to our style of play" mantra is significantly overblown & tiresome.

Its still early in the '18 recruiting year. But this speaks VOLUME to Tony Bland and Andy Enfield ability to close. Last year they stole Melton from under our noses. Of the Top 15, the PAC Holds 4: #1 USC (Cherry), #4 AZ, #11 CAL (Bradley), #13 Stanford.

Were we in his top 2 or 3? I know we made Top 5 but who was his 2nd choice? Also, would Dutch be interested anymore? Not that Cherry isn't a high level talent but knowing Dutch and Fish, they are loyal to their recruits and having Cherry would pretty much mean Nolan will get no minutes and/or Jalen will get reduced minutes. Similar to how Teki got almost no minutes behind Dakarai.

If Cherry is the kid referenced in the indictment there is no way he plays in 18 and maybe not ever... likely headed to NBA or Europe...

My co-worker is a USC fan and I told him I will never refer to them by their university name again. They are now University Number Five. Needless to say, he isn't happy about it. Any chance we get this guy after what went down at UNIVERSITY NUMBER FIVE?
