If he does stay home, then the Vance Jackson decision makes more sense

J'Raan Brooks just committed to USC. Could mean 1 of 2 things - both are 6'8-ish, 210 lb 3/4 combo's, so he may have taken a spot, OR it might entice him to join him at USC to play with another very good player.
Who knows what goes on in the mind of 17-year olds....

Sounds like they're pretty close friends. Maybe we have a chance? This would be huge for Dutcher and the program moving forward.

Rivals sports writer is predicting USC. That was before J'Raan Brooks signing, so who knows what impact that'll have. Other sites are predicting UA & even FSU. Zags have made him their #1 target. A buddy of his indicated they've talked about playing together at UA. The fact Florida St is on his list shows distance to home may not be an issue for him. I don't think anyone outside his inner circle really has a clue. We'll find out Friday.

Rivals sports writer is predicting USC. Zeigler predicting Zona. USC signed J'Raan Brooks SF 6'8 215 4-star out of Washington. Slow start to summer for Aztec recruiting: McCoy to UNLV, Norris to Oregon, Jeter (Duke) to Arizona, Jackson (UConn) to UNM and even VCU transfer Ahmed Hamdy-Mohamed committed to TCU. For 2018 the dominos are starting to fall.

My question is, why do all these San Diego kids want to contribute to a city that had nothinng to do with their upbringing. They should want to play for their city, otherwise they're just playing for a brand that only cares for its brand. Contribute to a community that cares about you. That has watched you grow and develop. Contribute to the growth of your cities universities. Be part of a narrative that matters. Stop putting money in the pockets of those that have destroyed college athletics for schools outside of the privileged few. Be part of a movement that promotes economic equality and not monopolies. Have pride in who you are and where you're from. Be an Aztec.

They want to go somewhere they haven't been. They want to play for a Nationally relevant program where they have a better chance of getting drafted and playing in the NBA. If SDSU was getting guys drafted regularly, we'd be having better recruiting. We had that little run with KL in the 1st round and then JF and X in the 2nd but nothing since.

And you forgot to mention all those zoners that come to SD every summer because they KNOW that it's better here. Take the hint, guys.

You're joking right? You are a SDSU fan, right? Are you trolling me? otherwise, I'm sitting here trying to promote SDSU on an SDSU sport forum, and you, being an SDSU fan too think that you Should play devils advocate? Jesus h christ. Are you aware of how ridiculous that is? This forum really has come down a few notches.

Maybe we should hire Bernie Sanders as recruiting director.

I think I know the first person in this thread that's gonna have a huge meltdown when a 17 year old kid he has never met makes a decision about HIS life that he doesn't agree with. Happens every year, and it's as predictable as my morning sh*t.

Either you think these kids actually read a lot of this stuff, which I'm pretty sure they don't, but you're trying to inspire them to go to the side of the greater good for God, country and San Diego California. OR, you're trying to make some kid feel less evolved for not realizing what most adults never realize much less college-age kids. And yes as an "SDSU fan", I've been a BB season-ticket holder since 1995 if that qualifies. And if you think the drivel I wrote can single-handedly drive down the quality of this Board a few notches then I'd hate to see your opinion of some of the bitter, vindictive and intellectually vacant crap that's on this Board sometimes.

I'm sorry buddy. I think some of these kids will want to stay home and play in front of their friends and family, some don't want to get away. The way the AAU teams travel these days, I doubt if going somewhere new and different is as compelling as it used to be. I'm holding out that Mr. Cherry will shock those with little faith, and commit to SDSU!
