I recall certain posters here claiming that Wood was a better NBA prospect than Malik a few months back following our game against UNLV where Wood single-handedly kept the Rebs in the game. Ha.

Woods was incredible in the UNLV win over arizona...........if he can bring that intensity all the time - his dreams will come true.

The guy has so much raw potential. Unfortunetly, he is lazy and had a head coach in Dave Rice that doesnt develop players. Not the greatest situation for CW but he will have to carry a chip on his shoulder and stop listening to other people on how great he is suppose to be...

Does the contract mean that it is good for summer competitions , and then ? Believe the Rockets drafted Dekker and Harrell . both PF's . They are also trying to sign Aldrige and K . Love.

Wood went from 3 PPG to 15 and 12 and a swatting machine. He developed CW into a first round talent. Until the interviews came and CW killed himself personally. Hate on DR all you want but UNLV can turn big men into NBA ready talent, what the p,ayers do with it is up to them

Wood has more heart than Bennett, and that's pretty sad. that is somehow DR's fault? His job is to get these kids into position to be drafted, which he has done pretty well. What any talent does from there is up to them. DR has numerous shortcomings but getting kids into the NBA isn't one.

Very few college coaches 'develop' players into NBA draft material. Example, how does John Calipari take credit for turning Top 10 recruits into NBA-draftees?

I thought it was directed at Christian Wood getting offered a contract with Houston. If the kid had a lick of drive, motivation, heart he would have had his name called within the top 20 on Thursday. This didn't start at Unlv, but his whole entire career has been given to the kid. DR gave him the keys to being drafted and CW flunked the combine and meetings on his own. Houston is a bad bad location for Wood, he won't sniff the NBA through that organization period, they are loaded in the front court

I hope Coach Rice continues to produce NBA talent and we continue to beat UNLV.

You're a real Chad Ford.

Judging a kid before he ever plays a game in the NBA? Nice. Sorry I recognize real NBA talent. After that game, people on here were touting Wood as a lottery pick. I responded by mentioning that there was no chance he would be drafted higher than Malik, and that (unfortunately), despite his skills, he doesn't have a game that will translate to the NBA. You wanna take a guess where Wood will be in 5, or even 3, years? I've got a few ideas, and they're all thousands of miles away from the NBA.

If there was anyway of guaranteeing a follow through of that bet, I would certainly make it. He will be in the NBA.

DR gave Wood the keys to be Wood. If anything, Rice didn't help. He let Wood skate by all season...like Wood's been doing his whole life. Rice prepared nobody for the NBA. He let these talented kids just play. Showcase their skill set. DR getting credit for anything other than being a great recruiter is ridiculous.
