An understandable concern. I agree that he is a very big part of who we could be next year. Absolutely and Sheppard I believe will be able to finish these dribble drive's at the rim he is going to be stronger so none of this 40 or 50 total point nonsense also with the shot clock rule we are going to scare some people. Save some of the vigor for fooball, O-Show!

Just because you used a double entendre doesn't qualify you as being clever. And when that double entendre involves the health of one of our players, I'm sure many of us don't find it that funny. Glad you were able to pat yourself on the back and get a good chuckle out of it though. I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but the phrase "break a leg" has been used for eons in the theater to mean good luck. Maybe some of the older posters have heard of this and could confirm. I understand that some don't think that the phrase should be used for Malik because of his history of breaking his leg, but in all fairness to the poster he did use the phrase correctly and it does mean Good Luck. ummm ya, we all understand the genesis of the reference... STILL not amusing how it was used.

Oh, puh-leeze. What, is everyone on this board now menstruating at the same time? Geezus. Grow a pair. Break a leg was funny. Cute even. Yes, I know. Malik broke his leg once. Big deal. Like the OP was really wishing this upon him again. Rather, it was the opposite. Stop with the faux Internet outrage. Sheesh.

Anyone who does not know that the phrase "Break a Leg" means good luck must have been living in a cave.
Break a leg" is an idiom in theatre used to wish a performer "good luck" in an ironic way. Well-wishers typically say "Break a leg" to actors and musicians before they go on stage to perform.

US Basketball selects 24 players to attend the training camp in June. The team will consist of 12 players and a couple of alternates I presume. The players that make the final cut play in Greece in July. In other words, half of the players get cut. Be happy for Malik and the SDSU MBB program.

I know that people are already worried that the increased work or competition may cause an injury to Malik. If his leg isn't as strong as it should be, we'd probably find out during the season anyway. Broken bones can actually heal stronger if they're given the chance. They're not like sprained or torn ligaments. That's much more likely to reoccur or cause permanent weakness and instability But the chance to play against the best young talent in the country to see where his game is now and to do it in the rarified air of Colorado, is a great trade-off to me. It's great for the program, speeds up his game way more than scrimmaging at the Jam Center and gets him more ready and aware of that damned thin mountain air. I think it can only be good for him.

This from USA Basketball:
For the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship, the USA has drawn preliminary round Group A and will play Iran on June 27, Croatia on June 28 and Egypt on June 30. Playing in preliminary round Group B will be Argentina, China, Spain and Turkey; Group C features Australia, Canada, Italy and Tunisia; and Group D includes Dominican Republic, Greece, Serbia and South Korea.
All 16 teams advance to the round of 16 that will be played on July 1. The winners advance to the medal-round quarterfinals on July 3, while the round of 16 losers will compete out for 9th-16th places. The semfinals are on July 4, and the finals are on July 5.

Great news. Sean Miller is a class act too. I agree about Miller... Worrisome in that I see him slowly becoming the Coach K of the West and keeping UA dominant for a long, long time, but at least he is enthusiastic about playing the 2nd tier teams in the region home AND away. Hopefully when Dutch takes over he'll be able to do similar things here like Miller did post-Lute (though obviously UA had a head start...) By the time Fish hangs it up, BD will have close to 30 years of Associate HC'ing experience.

All this of course is based on the assumption that Malik makes the team. I'm assuming they'll be cutting at least 10 guys? If he makes it, that's a lot of basketball in 3 weeks. Do we know where the games will be played?

Do we know where the games will be played? the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship is set for June 27-July 5, in Heraklion, Crete, Greece. The squad, which will consist of U.S. citizens who are 19 years old or younger, will look to defend the USA's 2013 U19 gold. 12 of the 24 players will make the travel squad.
