Okay, maybe not everyone. But Norv has to go, for starters. I'm a firm believer in the fact a team develops or takes on the personality of its head coach. In this case, Norv doesn't have one. Neither does his team. There's no heart, no passion and no swagger. Norv's timeout usage at the end of the game was idiotic and it's the second time this season he's done it. A.J. Smith, who I used to be a big fan of, is allowing this to continue because Norv can be controlled, and won't complain. The only way this team will rise to prominence again is to hire a disciplinarian like Bill Cowher. A.J, however, won't allow that because they would clash heads and his ego is more important than winning games. Steve Crosby has to go also. Special teams continues to be an embarrassment, and this has nothing to do with Kassim Osgood. It's simple, fundamental gap assignment/lane assignment football. Blocked field goal today hurt a little bit. (This is a recording, I'm aware.) I'm angry, but I think these are rational complaints. We have the number one ranked offense in the league, but we can't protect our quarterback past a 3 step drop, we can't tackle on defense, and we can't execute on special teams. We are the most talented 2-4 team in the league, and I fear we may not win 8 games this season. I don't know if that will be enough to turn heads in the front office, but it should be. Quite frankly, and this kills me to say, but this team is an embarrassment to watch right now.

Too bad Dean & Co. are corporate America types and NO ONE and I mean NO ONE will tell them what to do or when. I think it's funny though that they will ask the taxpayers for a $600 million handout when they continue to bungle things within the organization. I wonder if AJ even noticed the pass rush on Rivers today? Have we got anybody that is really disturbing the other QB? And 7 sacks of Rivers is nothing short of embarrassing to a team that lost 44-6 last week to Detroit. Shame Norm. Shame AJ. Shame Dean.

Well said. If they want a new stadium, show me some commitment to winning.

Fire Norv.
Fire A.J.
Fire them NOW.
Seriously, look at the results of the last 4 drafts and then compare them to the ones that Buddy Nix was largely responsible for.
A.J. is a phony. He was a fool to force Nix out, and now the team is a complete shambles thanks to his poor coaching hires and fires and due to his horrible player personnel decisions.
It's a shame that Nix is already a GM, because he's the guy that should have that job here.
New coach and new GM - that's what this team needs.

Fire the both of them.

Dude, are you kidding? He hasn't even been there a full year yet. Wow. He's had ONE draft. I didn't like the Chan Gailey hire, but Nix's specialty is scouting and personnel. If you research it, he had alot of say and influence over the drafts of the Chargers, in the early 2000's. I realize you're the biggest AJ Smith fan in San Diego, James, but to criticize Nix for Buffalos current record is ludicrous.

And, Nix did have a good deal of authority over the drafts when he was here. I wonder if AJ ran him off due to ego. Would not surprise me. AJ Smith is a colossal prick, and his rep as a personnel "guru" has dwindled.

K5,
I don't think AJ is an awful GM. An average one when it comes to talent evaluations, but not awful.
But, I think his arrogance, and the way he lets his ego effect business decisions, has hindered the teams progress.
For example, I remain convinced he will not hire a strong minded, succesful coach to replace Norv (if he even fires his boy). He'll bring in another yes man.

Chargers will need lots of luck to have a winning season. Could happen, but I doubt it.
They should start making next year's draft the priority.

The Chargers are in disarray. Who would have thought that they'd be in last place in the AFC West after their soft opening schedule (at Kansas City, vs. Jacksonville, at Seattle, vs. Arizona, at Oakland, at St. Louis)? That's the case after a devastating 20-17 loss to the Rams. It was devastating because their two best receivers -- tight end Antonio Gates and wideout Malcom Floyd -- may have suffered significant injuries.
But as dysfunctional as San Diego has looked on the field, the real problems are upstairs; the decisions management has made clearly affected the team. Look at what happened with LaDainian Tomlinson, Vincent Jackson, Marcus McNeill and, most recently, Shawne Merriman. They may not realize it yet, but what's left of the Chargers is a very average football team.
They've got some soul-searching to do if they really want to be a playoff team. Getting Jackson back at the end of November, if he's even motivated to contribute, may be too little, too late.Read more: sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/jerome_bettis/10/18/bus.stops.ap/index.html#ixzz12lngnREW

Who, exactly, has A.J. drafted since Buddy Nix was forced out that has made a serious impact on the field?
Who has A.J. brought in as a free agent that has made a serious impact on the field?
What coaches did A.J. fire and hire?
A.J. is a fraud.
