Twitter is saying Maxwell Smith from Kentucky is coming to SDSU.
"Maxwell Smith to San Diego State, per @jenheraldleader. Aztecs went 7-6 last year. Played a senior at QB. Wish Smith the best."

Injury prone...sounds talented though.

Don't know anything about him but the yards per attempt suggest he wasn't asked to go long much and he still wasn't very accurate.

By the sound of it, it's almost like he's being brought in to be a Graduate Assistant QB coach... which sounds like a great deal for everyone involved!

Could be good for our young QBs "Off the field, coaches and teammates said Smith served as a sort of student coach for Towles once he was named the starter in August." “The way he’s handled it, the energy that he brings, the commitment that he brings to this football team, he’s wonderful that way,” Mark Stoops said of Smith early in the season. “He really helps us.”

Suddenly, we got experience at QB. This guy is Lindley sized but I can't say much about his arm strength or his durability. If we can win with senior transfers (Katz), I'm okay with it.

Looks like he can hand off and hit receivers open on blown coverage...

some stats 11 starts in three years , played in 21 games 2011 84 completions of 153 attempts 819 yards 4TDS 4 INTS 2012 103 out of 150 975 yards 8TDs 4 INTs 2013 183 out of 1275 yards 9 TDs 1 INT
no yards rushing in any year, no stats for 2014 - coming back from an injury , helped the QB 's on the team
asked for his dream job - Coach college football , at time said in the South East area .
graduated in December , if he registers in January , can he play Spring Ball ?

The more competition at that position the better.

Think about the tradition of incredible coaches coming out of SDSU and moving on to do great things. If you think about it in those terms, and the kid wants to be a coach some day, then SDSU makes sense for him.

Looks like we'll have the classic Mobile QB vs Pocket QB spring/fall camp battle. Gotta wonder if Bawden will take a red shirt year next season?

Is this kid transferring with one year to play and the goal of winning the starting job over Rodrigues?

Is this kid transferring with one year to play and the goal of winning the starting job over Rodrigues? In think Hoobs probably got it right, more about a coaching track than expecting to beer the qb. Ib suspect, however, that'll he'll compete hard for the position.

There is no better place to beer the QB than San Diego State.
