Can we not do this until we hear something? Do NOT want another Hank Gathers situation!SAN DIEGO (AP) — San Diego State forward Dwayne Polee II collapsed on the court during San Diego State's game against UC Riverside on Monday night and was tended to by a paramedic for several minutes before being taken off on a stretcher. Polee was conscious as he was wheeled off the court. His teammates came over and gave him fist-bumps. Polee pumped his fists toward the crowd. SDSU officials didn't immediately know what happened. A spokesman said Polee was responsive and being taken to a hospital. Polee had missed a layup and teammate JJ O'Brien scored on a tip-in for a 14-8 lead with more than 11 minutes left before the Aztecs went on defense. Polee collapsed face-first near the key.

a short while ago I asked about dp's health. something seemed wrong. tonite something showed up. praying that it is not a career ending condition. It's just my personal opinion but from the way it looked I would say his career at SDSU is over. If he did have a condition that could reoccur SDSU would have a huge financial liability if something were to happen again. Hank Gathers collapsed in a game and was allowed to play again, he later died in another game and his family sued LMU for $32 million and it was settled out of court. Thank you, doctor! Good Lord... Some people! Smh

I have never heard a boo since Fish got here. Where do you sit anyway? I heard the same boos on Saturday after DP missed both free throws. I'm in E. Disgusting, especially considering what occurred last night.

Not to be super Douchey but Gathers family also allegedly tried to sue the doctor who performed CPR on the court.

What's so ethically wrong about that? It would be the correct decision if playing could further hurt him. Of course I'm not wishing that to be the case and hope he comes back strong.

If me thinking that his episode looked serious enough to end a career is so ethically wrong then so be it.

Thoughts and prayers go out to DP and his family. That truly was a scary incident to witness last night.
I don't want speculate on anything until the full medical reports are released, but the question remains, will DP be able to play again? Selfishly, myself, as well as all of Aztec nation, would like to see him back on the court helping this team win, but if he does have some sort of medical condition, obviously he will not be playing anymore. Basketball aside, the guy is a young man with his whole life ahead of him. That's first and foremost. Basketball is obviously secondary to that by a mile.
Hopefully everything is ok with him health wise, and he does not have any sort of health condition.
Speedy recovery, DP! We're all praying for you here in Aztec nation!

Brings a proper perspective on sports, when you see something horrific like this. Got to feel for that young man and his family.

I took Sterk's response as a hint that this can't be good news... He was dancing around the questions and said a few questionable things. I hope I'm wrong... Either way, best wishes to DP.

Polee was conscious as he was wheeled off the court. His teammates came over and gave him fist-bumps. Polee pumped his fists toward the crowd. SDSU officials didn't immediately know what happened. Polee had missed a layup and teammate JJ O'Brien scored on a tip-in for a 14-8 lead with more than 11 minutes left before the Aztecs went on defense. Polee collapsed face-first near the key. Not again. Not again. Heart condition and death[edit]
Gathers' first sign of trouble came on Saturday, December 9, 1989, when he collapsed at the free-throw line during an LMU home game against UCSB.[15]
He was found to have an abnormal heartbeat (exercise-induced ventricular tachycardia), and was prescribed a beta blocker, Inderal.[15] However, Gathers felt that the medication adversely affected his play, and he soon cut back on his dosage.[16] As the West Coast Conference (WCC) Tournament neared, Gathers did not show up for repeated appointments to test if the reduced medication was still suppressing the arrhythmias. It was suspected Gathers was not taking any dosage on game days.[15]
On Sunday, March 4, 1990, in Los Angeles, he collapsed again with 13:34 left in the first half of the WCC tournament quarterfinal game against the Portland Pilots. He had just scored on his trademark tomahawk dunk on an alley-oop pass pass from point guard Terrell Lowery that put the Lions up 25–13.[11][16] He collapsed a yard or two away from Pilots point guard Erik Spoelstra.[17] He attempted to get up, telling the trainers, "I don't want to lay down!", then shortly after stopped breathing.[18] He was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital at the age of 23.[15]
Minutes after Gathers was taken to the hospital, the WCC commissioner suspended the game indefinitely.[19] ESPN broadcast graphic footage of Gathers' collapse on SportsCenter;[20] the network was at the game recording advance footage for the championship game it was scheduled to televise the next night. Late that night, the WCC canceled the tournament and awarded Loyola the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament due to its WCC regular season title.[21]
An autopsy found that he suffered from a heart-muscle disorder, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.[15] Gathers' family later filed a $32.5-million lawsuit charging negligence.[22] Loyola Marymount settled out of court for $1.4 million, while the cardiologist who treated Gathers settled for $1 million.[23][24]

According to yahoo...DP was released from the hospital and cleared for normal activities, but not cleared for basketball related activities. Says they are still figuring out what happened.

Could have been as simple as dehydration. Let's hope. Was thinking the same thing. Hoping to hear he had been battling the flu or something. Doesn't sound like that's the case based on what coach said though.
