This is just like the Scott Frost mention. Why on earth would this guy come here for the same position he already has? He is the OC and Assistant Head Coach already at ASU. Why would be leave the P5 for the same exact job and less money? The only way a guy like that is coming to the MW is for a head coaching job. From the ASU website, it looks like he is the Assistant to the Assistant Head Coach. It looked like he was third in line, why can't we offer him more money if we want to be big time? He makes 500k right now. Auburn offered him the OC job last year. He declined. Toledo is making 300k a year. Rocky is making 800k a year. Our OC and HC aren't going to be making the same money. Third in line at ASU is better than 2nd in line at SDSU or any G5 school. He is a very desired coach. He has absolutely zero reason to come to the G5 for any position, even HC.

My choice for offensive coordinator is. Doug Nussmeier former Michigan OF. His style is classic Pro-Style with innovative passing attack. He would fit right-in. He was former OC at Alabama. If he does well in the next two years he would be in_line for a Head Coach position. You mean because Michigan's offense was so much better with him as OC than Al Borges? Lol. Rocky would like to see SDSU use both a spread and pro style. However, once he hires an OC, it will be completely up to that guy to make the decision. If SteveEM is correct that Jeff Horton has no interest in being an OC again - and it wouldn't surprise me if Steve hasn't heard from somebody who would know that's the case - then I'd like to see Rocky bring back Al Borges. Big Al's been criticized by some for not recruiting good QBs for Ludwig and Toledo to use but as I've said, Al had all of 1.5 recruiting cycles to do that so I think such criticism is a bit unfair. I also think Al got thrown under the bus by Tuberville at Auburn and Hoke at Michigan and so would come here with fire in his ample belly to prove his worth. I have no particular objection to most of the young guys whose names have been mentioned. However, would an old guy like Rocky hire a young up-and-comer whom he might feel was looking over his shoulder to replace him as HC? I highly doubt it. Sleeping: NOT BECAUSE Nussmeires offense was better than Borges', but for the body of work he produced at Alabama and because he did not have the time and players to implement his scheme at Michigan. Nussmeier on paper looks like he would fit-in but that is why you interview candidates...walkonza...

Is it too soon to promote Sipe? OH GOD PLEASE NO. Great guy, terrific ambassador for the school, not exactly the best coach on the staff however.

Sipe is a great human being (which is most important). He love SDSU and is a great ambassador. But the guy is not a coach, let alone an OC. No question he knows a thing or two about QB fundamentals and can be a role model to your QBs, but he lacks in other areas. He is a decent position coach at best. He was brought to the staff for other reasons than actual coaching.

I doubt Brian has any interest in being OC and he is a good coach.

I doubt Brian has any interest in being OC and he is a good coach. I don't think he has the right chemistry or relationship with Rocky to be his OC. That's why I think it won't happen. I think Coach Sipe is a good coach.

Won't happen, but he would fix things. Like Shoeless Joe, Ed Cicotte, Lefty Williams and a handful of others fixed the 1919 World Series?

When Craft was here as OC in '95-'96 we had some of the greatest offensive stats ever by the football team. He may not have succeeded as HC, but he was brilliant as the OC here!

I don't follow Oregon football very closely, but is there a hot shot up and comer on the staff that is looking for an OC gig? That brand of FB would do well at SDSU, IMO. For those of us that grew up watching high powered offenses it would be great. It would sell well w/ recruits too.

Is it troubling that Rocky has known for months--if we can believe the reports---that Toledo was departing, and yet he still hasn't named a replacement? Not even a leak? Perhaps the potential targets have not received permission from those schools? But if the target is in the program now, it makes no sense at all to not announce it.

The key word there though is potential.
