Any news? Gotta be something released soon, wouldn't ya think? As posted in another thread we will play Northern Arizona again and still dithering for another possible. I had heard Arkansas State, but that might fly either. They will announce both at the same time of course to complete the full schedule.

What about Marshall, or Northern Illinois? They both had excellent teams this past season, and we have played No. Illinois a few times many years ago.

Why should we attempt to get a P5 school to come to the Q when we can play the directional schools (who often beat us) and someone else with a Poly in their name? I guess we're really not trying to sell tickets and attract fans at home. Freakin rinky dink

Any news? Gotta be something released soon, wouldn't ya think? I'm sure it'll be announced soon. I had heard we got a team off uab's schedule who happened to play in a bowl last year. Not big name but good comp. with 2 good P5 schools already we need 1 directional and 1 decent team. Our home conference schedule is pretty good.

The teams we're filling the schedule with have no pizzazz. They're little schools which should be easy wins, but will only draw small crowds.

Why not? That's exactly what Coryell did. Actually it was Mexico Poly. We won 69-0. 11 touchdowns and 3 extra points. I still remember after we scored our last touchdown to make it 68-0 the crowd started chanting "One more point, one more point." The cheerleaders joined in leading the cheer. Then one of the girl cheerleaders turned as red as her uniform when she realized what she was cheering for. It was a much more innocent time. For the record the score was 45-0.

According to the Aztec Media Guide you are right about the Mexico Poly score. That game was in 1966. The Media Guide shows the game I was talking about was against Cal Poly (SLO) in 1963. I have always remembered that game as being against Mexico Poly. Apparently I was wrong about that. The rest of the story is accurate.

Didn't take too much sleuthing to figure out you mean South Alabama and the date would be September 19. Considering how often we've stubbed our toe in playing OOC opponents with little depth but which are well coached and do have some playuhs, nobody should just assume a victory. USA has a very good coach in former Alabama WR Joey Jones, who has done a great job building that program. Some will say BFD but the Jaguars blew out Idaho last year at the Kibbie & Bits Quonset Hut, a venue where we have lost each of the last two times we've played there and neither time the losing coach was Chuck Long. So particularly since it will be a sandwich game between Penn State and Cal, the game concerns me quite a bit.
