understand we normally try to schedule the 4 OOC opponents first 4 games . This past year we had 2 OOC games then a bye , then OOC game , played Idaho OOC later in the year , So far we have the Penn State and CAL games on scheduled dates . So then does AD hunt for teams on what ever date he has open for our team and see if they do also ? then submit to MW

We should stop doing it.

I am about to write AD Sterk a WTF message about the two home games not yet scheduled OOC. Do any of you serious posters have any insight or questions? My premise is that with UW and PSU on the road, we'd need two fairly assured home victories to get us to at least 2-2 going into conference. But, you'd think that if Cal Poly or New Mexico State or So. Utah were available, that would be booked and announced by now. So, what is up? Something unusual like the trade that resulted in the @notre Dame opportunity that arose suddenly back in 2010? Your thoughts? I am so glad you were about to write Sterk to get him on this! I am sure he was sitting at home watching Judge Judy and when his email dinged and he opened his inbox and saw your suggestion he would sit right up and get ON THAT!!!!!! It had probably slipped his mind that our football team, ya know, needed games next year. So glad you are on the case. Are you kidding me? Just because you don't know something doesn't mean it isn't happening. Good Lord.

Rumour is we are going to play Tijuana Tech....I'm not worried. ;D Why not? That's exactly what Coryell did. Actually it was Mexico Poly. We won 69-0. 11 touchdowns and 3 extra points. I still remember after we scored our last touchdown to make it 68-0 the crowd started chanting "One more point, one more point." The cheerleaders joined in leading the cheer. Then one of the girl cheerleaders turned as red as her uniform when she realized what she was cheering for. It was a much more innocent time.

I realize that the state of college football is somewhat confused these days, but it does surprise me that TWO of the non-conference opponents have not been named so far. For as long as I can remember (which happens to be a very long time, I'm afraid), games usually are set years in advance. The longer we wait, the fewer the possibilities. No doubt some schools that might like to play here will have their entire schedules set right now.

Perhaps you made it better. It is very unusual to not have one or both of these OOCs not filled only nine months out. I understand that we had some real possibles vs. MAC or CUSA opponents that fell through. You don't just call another school this late and find an availability. And, they need to very winnable and/or attractive for the season ticket holders after this year's lackluster schedule.

They would have announced these slots long ago if they were filled. Something is wrong and probably we will go "who?" when they finally get the slots filled. Perhaps we might even end up with only 11 games and three byes? Unless, Arizona Western is............never mind.

You just know you're going to play them early - preconference - and then as the season approaches get specific. Idaho is an independent. Like BYU and ND they have a ton of flexibility. That's not the norm. Most have conference games come mid to late sept and want byes late. Sometimes if byes happen to coincide teams will decide to pass on their bye late and move a potential sept game to late, having an early bye. At this point we most likely to have specific dates for cal and PS, so we are looking for teams with open NC dates on the remaining August or sept dates, but it doesn't mean we can't move a MW game up or back if both have other open dates. I feel for Wicker. Scheduling is brutal!

Kansas has an opening on 9/19, they currently have 2 non conference home games and 1 non conference road game. Seems like a good opportunity for home and home with first game in San Diego on 9/19/2015.

They will get filled so, don't worry. They may be working on a schedule to get name team into the Q, but the details might be harder to work out for both teams.
*Just as a side note; the reason that U$C always plays Notre Dame early in the season @notre Dame, and plays them late at home is because they structured the contract with ND that way. Know why? It is because the footballers from Big Time U$C do not want to play the Irish in South Bend late in the season when it is COLD & SNOWY. They are afraid they might get their little Pinky's frozen! Talk about Chicken Livers!
And, we play Wyoming, Colorado St., Boise St., Air Force, New Mexico, and Nevada at their homes any time we are scheduled! AZTECS are not babies who are afraid of the weather!

Well, I do worry, and I think with reason. If getting new opponents on the schedule were an easy thing, it would have been done by now. It may be a question of having to get a third party school to agree to a multi-team/year swap. UAB's collapse is causing lots of problems. AzWm

If, nothing else this proves how difficult scheduling can be at times. They could try to schedule a team from the MAC, or Sun Belt (like Louisiana, we owe them one). They are not Big Name teams, but they do have some teams that do provide very good competition.

I would like to see us schedule Navy at least every year. We would get good attendance at The Q, the trip to Annapolis would be fun and we would have a pretty good chance of winning most years.

SDSU needs to find and sign a home-and-home with any power conference bottom feeder....an Indiana, a Washington State (again), Vanderbilt, Kansas, etc. Some team the Aztecs could realistically (on paper at least) be victorious over. Note: Cal was one such bottom-feeder when the home-and-home was made, but I'm more than a tad nervous about it now with the Golden Bears improving from "suck" to "mediocre". Should be a good 2 games against Cal these next 2 seasons Completely agree...we can beat Washington State....right?
