It won't be this year very often, but down the road I can see Kell and Zabo on the floor at the same time. They can function as combo guards, as each could run the team while the other plays SG. Depending on match-ups we will have someone on the floor who can break down the defense, and create their own shot and shots for others.

Trey was a 6th grader when Mr. Hawes was a freshmen in college... Hawes is so old he farts dust That's pretty old. He's two months older than Kawhi.

Trey Kell's physical play vs BYU knocked Hawes off his stride in overtime, that proved to be a key factor down the stretch. TK's basketball savvy and clutch FT shooting iced the game for SDSU. I am looking forward to seeing this Aztec Team in a couple of weeks. Cholzilla, O'Brien and Spencer had terrific games and AQ had his career best game. This Aztec team took BYU's best effort and came out on top.

Starting as a Freshman guard for 15th Ranked Team in the Nation; High Basketball IQ; Unselfish; A Team player; 8-10 from the FT is CLUTCH in a Nationally televised game; Can shoot the ball, but has not been consistent, yet. This young player is mature beyond his years!
The only issues I see with "Special K" is his foot-speed and his learning curve to finish in traffic against taller and athletic bigs. "Special K" will learn how to improve his foot speed with ball anticipaton as the year progresses. "Special K" will learn how to ball fake when he is going to the basket, draw fouls and make 'em pay at the free throw line. Great to see a local San Diegan playing for the HOME TEAM!

Sorry, while I think Kell can develop into a very good player for us he just isn't there yet for me. He isn't playing with a lot of confidence on offense right now, he looks very tight to me and wasn't money from the line tonight. He isn't prone to making mistakes but he isn't giving us a lot on offense, either as a scorer or a big assist maker. I don't know if it says more about me or Aztec Mesa that I'm not 100% sure you're joking.

Thought Kell looked very comfortable last night. Evidently Fisher was comfortable with his play. He had him on the floor at the end of the game. I've wondered who our "go to in crunch time" would be. I don't know yet who that might be but the way Kell handled himself in the last 5 minutes he may develop into that "guy".

He isn't prone to making mistakes but he isn't giving us a lot on offense, either as a scorer or a big assist maker. I can't tell if you're serious. Well, I had to drink a lot to get through the game and his stats from the line were good. He had a couple of misses, bad from what I recall, from the line in regulation and given our issues at the FT line last night that stuck in my mind. But offensively Kell is struggling right now. He passes on shots where you can tell his first instinct is to put it up. He is just hesitating. As I have said he reminds me more of a Tapley than of a Thames. I'd rather see him at the number two where he can be in position for a pass and shot. He can drive the ball but I think he would be more effective with his drives if the focus isn't on him, like it is at the point. He is steady and isn't making a lot of mistakes but he isn't really giving us a lot on offense right now. When Zabo is in he makes mistakes but you can tell he understands the PG position. Zabo is getting better with each game at the point this year which I can say I am very happy to see.

He is reminding me so much of Chase Tapley with even more upside because of his height. He could be one of our greatest Aztecs ever if he keeps improving...Love his demeanor, nothing seems to faze the kid.

Kell had a much better night offensively, he wasn't hesitating and second guessing himself. I still like him more at the 2 though. Zabo had a nice night too. It is good to see both of them have good games since we are asking them to replace X. I still think Zabo is the one we want to see at the point.

Kell is growing up before our eyes in Hawaii. When the team was struggling on O in the beginning of the end, he took charge, made clutch shots and drove to the basket. Along with the clutch FTs in crunchtime against BYU, I can see his game pattern X's career at SDSU. Of course, we might not have the luxury of having him for four years.

After seeing Kell play his first game as an Aztec I posted that he did not look like a freshman. He did not look like a freshman tonight. He looked more like a senior.

Jeez '84, you admit you are drunk and then criticize Trey. Give the kid a break. He's a freshman. And, not giving us a lot of offense? He was the team high scorer in this game.

Imagine how good TK would be if we can send him on a two year mission...

all the Aztec guards should get a real test tonight against the Arizona guards . on both ends of the court . also major test for the guys down low . Could be a game of who controls the boards , lower amount of TO's and not letting the other team get quick transition points.

I'm driving the Trey Kell bandwagon, his offensive game is too smooth it has everything you look for in a guard. True freshman, 6 college games and already outplaying both 5th senior starters on the squad. Like Winston said, coaches hit it out of the ballpark with this guy.

After watching Kell against BYU/Pitt/Arizona it is clear we have our starting PG as long as he is healthy. Hope we see him take a little bit more threes. Shot looks good from 3 just hasn't gone in

And, not giving us a lot of offense? He was the team high scorer in this game. Even Kell admitted he was hesitant on offense before his game against YBU and Shepard made the same point after the YBU game, that Kell was less hesitant. As for FTs he is under 70% for the season, which isn't that great for guy known for his ability to shoot from outside. He was passing up on shots after giving them a quick pause to think about it. I have said I like him as a number 2 and have said he reminds me a lot of Chase Tapley. I have also said I hope that as the year progresses Zabo can limit his mistakes and assume the PG position (with Kell and Q spelling him at times) because he is the first true PG we have had with the potential to be a starter since Richie Williams. I like Kell as a number two which is generally a position you want your scorer to assume. As for his FT shooting I do expect him to be above 70% this year, hopefully much higher. So, if you think comparisons to Tapley and the fact I have pointed out he was struggling offensively before the YBU game (likely because of playing in a position he isn't suited for) is being overly-critical of him then more power to you.
