You are delusional at best if you think pope should start. He is a tremendous talent, but he is coming off a major injury and played part of a game against Bakersfield. Its a matter of time.

We will have to hit some outside shots to open the middle. Against BYU we will see a very tightly packed zone. Polee finding his shot and Kell hitting a couple is important. Quinn and Pope may see more time to counter zone defenses. I would start Zabo and Pope against BYU and have Trey and DPJr. off the bench, Zabo involves and attacks, Pope has confidence, Polee is an exciting 6th of the bench and Kell needs less pressure 2-16! Pope isn't ready to start and may not get a whole of of minutes against BYU because they like to play fast. I really think that at best he starts coming around in a month or two. He has talent, but he hasn't played in two years. He is thinking rather than reacting and even given his immense talent he still has to adjust to Division 1 play. I do hope that is it closer to month than two months because what he can give us offensively is something we really have never had. Kawhi was a special player, even in his freshman year, but he was more of a defender and rebounder who could score in the paint than an offensive star who could score from anywhere on the court. He really didn't hone his outside shot until he left to turn pro. I do hope that we give Pope some time and be patient if he struggles because there seem to be many Aztec fans who have a quick trigger if a player doesn't live up to his hype immediately. This team should be better as the season moves along. We likely won't be as good as we were early last year but I think we have a chance to be much better come tournament time if we can get healthy, our freshmen who have been playing get better with experience and, hopefully, that Cheatham gets healthy and can help us in the second half of the season. Then again, we weren't playing our best yet against Arizona early last year either and really started to during the holiday tournament. Once Polee started to come around we got much better.

Aztec coaches could help the guards and the whole team ,if they had more movement from guys without the ball and we used more quick sharp passing . we have 10 deep , make the other team chase work harder . More set plays , back door cuts , less ball screens ,use our athleticism - guys that can really move and long reach . Involve the center as an offensive opportunity . Zabo is a natural PG , the hardest position to learn , so is Williams . Court vision -looking to pass first . Watch when he passes the ball ,he cuts through and around to be in the open for a return pass . We stand around too much . Kell is a natural SG , use those skills so he feels comfortable and can do things by instinct . Win / Win Zabo at PG and Kell SG . Shepard tried PG and realized it was not the best position for him, do not put Kell through the same thing. Last year the 1-3-1 or a 2-3 zone could help trigger fast breaks and also lets Skylar hang in the middle . Know Hutson likes it but is still not sure Fisher buys into it . Would be smart to bring Pope in depending on his progress in practice , still rusty with loads of talent . We need to be patient. With 3 games in 3 days should get opportunity . BYU win is very important to stay in the winner's bracket and continue to play quality teams , if not we head to the lower level teams.,hurts RPI . Would play that game as a regular season game .

Kell is a natural 2 but is doing a decent job at point so far. He's a naturally good shooter with good technique and he will shoot well, (probably sooner rather than later.) He just needs to hit a couple of outside shots in a row and it will be on. By the time conference play opens and Shrigley is back healthy, I'm thinking that these two guys plus Polee, Quinn, and Pope will hit enough 3's that a zone defense may not be much of an option against the Aztecs at all.

Trey played a great game tonight. Really liked the aggressive drives to the hoop. Did not look like a freshman at all!

And he was MONEY from the free throw line late in the game when it counted. For a Freshman that's incredible. Ice in his veins!

Sorry, while I think Kell can develop into a very good player for us he just isn't there yet for me. He isn't playing with a lot of confidence on offense right now, he looks very tight to me and wasn't money from the line tonight. He isn't prone to making mistakes but he isn't giving us a lot on offense, either as a scorer or a big assist maker.

Not flashy, 1 turnover, 8-10 free throws down the stretch, not very clutch at the line at all. Great assist to Skylar that set up a dunk. Thought he played great tonight, I'll take that every night.

Neither is X and it took him five years after he graduated from high school to show up. The guy barely knows were Storm Hall is located? The guy will be good... Trey was a 6th grader when Mr. Hawes was a freshmen in college...

The kid is money at the line and he DOES NOT Turn the ball over or make dumb decisions!
If Fisher is starting him he has a TON of confidence in the young man! Holy crap this year just got real after tonight...
