A positive win true but Air Force was without its best player at RB by far and we had Ruffin back at full steam. Our QB is playing with a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder. Our starting NT was out, our starting Safety (McGhee) was out, your point is? Injuries are injuries and you deal with them or not. We dealt with ours, AFA didn't. We won.

Why is Tolner being compared to Rocky when Ted never took us to the bowl and had several losing seasons? Ted had two 8-win seasons. However, there were then only like 20 bowl games and the WAC had only one guaranteed bid, for its champion in the Holiday Bowl. The mid-nineties WAC which Ted coached in was a vastly better football conference than the current Molehill West. If you've been a college football fan for more than 20 years, you'll recognize these head coaches who were then in the WAC: Sonny Lubick - CSU Lavell Edwards - BYU Joe Tiller - Wyoming Dennis Franchione - UNM Jim Sweeney - Fresno Fisher DeBerry - AFA All great coaches and Ron McBride at Utah was no slouch either. So the only crummy coaches and teams in that conference were Fred von Appen at Hawaii and whatever incompetent UTEP had at the time. Winning became easier during SDSU's last couple years in the WAC after they let all the SWC leftovers in since even TCU wasn't any good in those days but for the length of time Rocky has been our HC, considering the competition he faced, Ted did at least as good a job and probably better. Then if you ask Stephen and the other guys still here who actively followed the team, they'll tell you that once Rick Bay extended Ted's contract to 10 years, he retired on the job.
