1) Throw to Kazee's side 90% of the time. Guaranteed holding or PI. Kid is in way over his head.
3 games in a row-more than coincedence.
2) Load up the box and dare Kaehler to throw anything over 10 yards.Anything over 10 yards is a 50/50 ball. Anything over 20 yards is a floater guaranteed to get your WR crushed, or underthrown.
3) If I can stop the run (Sorry UNLV-total bust last night), you are in the drivers seat.
Glad for the win, but hardly impressive or dominating against a team that is one of the worst in D-1 this year (and missing two key starters).
Good news-no pics for Kaehler last night, bad news-several woefully underthrown balls, two balls that should have picked off. Clearly not "the guy". Why Bawden only saw the last series and just handed off on every play is astonishing, but then again, why Kazee wasn't yanked is even more surprising. Is our lack of depth really that bad?
When a QB like UNLV's puts up the numbers that he did, one has to question the effectiveness of our whole secondary. Kazee was miserable, but was left in until the bitter end, despite being toasted on every play thrown to his side. I don't care how "young" he and the rest of the secondary are. Technique leaves a whole lot to be desired.

Yep. And Davante Davis, who burned us for four TDs last year, didn't even suit up for the Rebels.

Little doubt teams are going to try to prevent the Aztecs from running the ball and make our QB beat them . Games could be won or lost on the line play . Our OL is going to really need to block for runs and pass block. QK is primarily effective on quick release throws , he has trouble if rushed , finding the 3 or 4 th option or has to throw a long pass . As you said Expect /plan on teams to load the box and force us to throw the ball .Maybe go no huddle either quick play selection or let our QB check off to the play he wants . Also expect noise at road games . So get to the line and attack them quickly.
DL is going to need to really rush and get to their QB . If not and we blitz it leaves the DB's one on one and we get burned . When we hurried their QB , we got the two INT's , that really turned the game in our favor . Next opponent Fresno 's QB threw for 3 TD's last week in their come from behind win , he also ran for over 60 yards . Also realize in conference play teams have seen Rocky's defenses , time for guys to win the one on one battles.

Yes. Over 350 yards passing for UNLV. That's the scary part. Overall it was a good win, but not a great one, since we were not able to shut down, or even minimize, the Rebel passing. Can we do something about that?

The game was not as close as the score, and the passing yards were more indicative of UNLV playing from behind, as well as the fast pace of which Offense is played. It was a solid win for us.
We will be 5-2 (4-0) heading into the bye week prior to the Nevada game.

McGuire threw for about 4,000 yards in the two seasons he was with us. How were out defensive backs during those years? Just a question as I don't know the answer. |
