Hoke took over possibly the worst coached team in FBS, and restored it to mediocrity. Since you are so adverse to anything remotely mediocre, I'm just wondering what you are talking about. Sorry, maybe you can't be helped.

Do not know if people want to talk about the post about what Fresno DC will game plan against the Aztecs .As most started to post , it will be to load the box . Trust Toledo is working on their game plan ,with 1 less day to plan ,with a freshman QB. It would also be nice if college had an injury / participation report similar to the NFL. UNLV was very fuzzy on what guys were going to play .

Only one or two players out of 31 on the questionable list not playing is a lot more than fuzzy.

Just out of curiousity, when did it become mandatory to toe the company line and drink the kool-aid on this board? MOW has a different opinion than many. If you don't like it, don't respond to it.It's that simple. Those that paint him out to be the second coming of the anti-christ for voicing an opinion that doesn't parallel theirs need to relax. Some have expectations that are lower than others. Some higher. Nothing wrong with that, but why take shots at a guy whose bar and expectations to all things football related are raised higher than most here? You may not like the message, but imagine this board if everyone here accepted continued mediocrity. To accept the status quo with the FB program (as many are happy to do), may work for some, but not others. To challenge actions and deeds of administration doesn't make someone a "naysayer", simply one with a different perspective. I for one appreciate the fact that MOW isn't satisfied with Aztec football "treading water", and isn't afraid to question those who are. Don't let the Bast**rds get you down MOW. The name of the thread was "If I'm game planning against SDSU for the rest of the season". MOW always relates to the topic of thread with his agenda, hence the high-jacking of every thread in into a diatribe regarding his hatred of the administration and Rocky. That is what's known as a troll. And his patronizing tone is something to relish, yes?

On defense, I'd be blitzing like mad, loading the box and bringing true D1 game speed at Bawden.

Toledo was on his usual 1090 Tuesday 7AM slot , said he had confidence in Bawden to run a more simplified offense this week . What he felt was most important was to stay away from third and long situations. Bawden may not be as accurate as QK but can run a little better. He also thought it is important for QB's to know when it is better to toss the ball away then throw into coverage. He also felt the WR's stepped up and it was worth it playing Holder-true freshman(was going to red shirt) as a WR , he is really going to become a very good receiver .
So If you were Toledo what would your game plan be for our offense , knowing they are going to load the box , try to prevent the run ,blitz for both running and passing .??

It all starts with the O-line owning the LOS ... after that:
motion man identifies man or zone coverage for quick passes to the flats, a slant route or screens ... if executed properly, will keep them from blitzing and open up the run game. All of these would punish an overly aggressive defense and have the potential for big yards after catch. Once the defense backs off, it opens up the rest of the playbook.

Rocky's 3-3-5 defense is kinda designed for the situation SDSU finds itself in. Depleted at a certain position. This week it's linebacker. A risk versus reward attack to keep the opposing offense off balance. Question is will the next man be able to step. I think that some of our younger players will rule the roost in fresneck. As for Toledo, he friggin smashes the ball between the tackles and let's DP earn MVP honors the second week in a row. SDSU will stalk with caustic venom.....

Here's the deal, having younger players (even if potentially excellent) step in an compete well, assumes that they've been well coached. I submit, and lest I forget---in my opinion---they have not. That is why we've had inexplicable lapses in the past to subprime teams, we've had QBs regress, we continue to lose to the P5s of any strength at all. We've had myriad excuses for many failures and inability to rise above and build upon the accomplishments that were commenced 5 years ago.
