Well, I don't think it'll have the same panache as AZ, @ Kansas, and Creighton... but it'll be okay as far as strength at the top. What we really need is to lose as many as possible of those absolute RPI and SOS killers at the bottom.

Totally disagree about MWC being worse. Only UNM should be worse. Colorado St. and UNLV should be very good. Wyoming and Boise should be as good if not better. Fresno is improving.
The league is going to be much deeper next year. We do need to add some quality OOC games though.

The MW was not very good last year . In OOC last year only the Aztecs had a top 25 win , the only two MM wins and rated in the top 25. No team was even invited to the NIT . No highly rated HS recruits played in the MW. UNLV has a top 5 recruiting class coming in . Aztecs will have some good returning players and good recruiting class. CSU is becoming transfer haven . BSU ,Wyoming have good returning players . Push should come from the MW office for all schools to have a solid OOC schedule .Try to get a decent conference challenge again .

Utah State wasn't good this year so I don't think it matters if they go from bad to worse. Why do you think Wyoming is going to be worse? Only question is how well Nance can come back from injury. Boise still has Drmic, Marks and Thompson. Obviously need to replace Watkins, but improvement from others could more than cover hsi loss. I hadn't heard the news of Behanan -- they still have some others coming in. UNM is going to worse, but they should still be solid.

Steve Fisher and co. know exactly what they're doing when it comes to the strength of the MW and proper OOC scheduling.
We'll be fine.

MWC will be worse this year. Not to mention our new found crosstown "rival" is an RPI killer

Isn't Boise returning most of their talent and bringing in a long and athletic class this year? Their best player, Watkins, is gone. They are sorely lacking what he provided - a stud inside guy that rebounds great. They signed a lot of big guys but none are close to Watkins in talent.

We do not want the bottom of the MWC to schedule teams that will add losses to their record. It is better for them to play really bad teams and win.

BSU added JUCO K.Allen 6'9", also HS recruits Hutchinson SF , D. Wacker 6'9" and Haney 6'11". most about 3 stars.
CSU is going to be a revolving door with transfers coming in that started last year ,have red shirts from last year and transfers going out from last year's team D.Smith, Cohen, and Holt . As noted Chane Behanan conflicting reports if he has decided to enter his name for NBA draft or be able to play in late December with the Rams. CSU- another one of the tough places to travel to and play in altitude .
Wyoming another terrible place to get to and play.
Tell these teams to get a decent OOC Schedule
Wonder how the regular season schedule will be determined .

The Maui Invitational is going to be very important this year. A chance for 2-3 quality wins depending on the schedule. Hopefully we are not matched up against Chaminade (Non D1) since we will likely have at least 1 Non D1 already on the schedule (based on year's past).
This is the RPI / KenPom.Com ratings for the 7 D1 teams from this past season. Arizona - 2 / 2 SDSU - 17 /18 Pitt - 39 / 19 Kansas St - 51 / 43 BYU - 32 /53 Mizzu - 47 /78 Purdue - 141 /97

Tell these teams to get a decent OOC ScheduleWonder how the regular season schedule will be determined . It is far better for us if the bottom of the conference schedules down and wins. Unless a team has a good chance to be in the top 100 of RPI, it is far better that they come into conference play with a 10-2 record and a 200 RPI, than a 5-6 record and a 120 RPI. Our opponents win/loss record is 2/3s of how they effect our SOS. That 2/3s makes the other 1/3 become mostly meaningless. That other 1/3 is their opponents W/L record. 60% of our games are against MWC teams. 36% of our opponents games are against MWC teams. 60% * 50% + 36% * 25% = 39% of our RPI comes directly from the 10 other MWC teams W/L record OOC. We need them to win, their RPIs don't mean much to us.

Who is on the OOC schedule so far... besides the Maui Invitational? Cincy, Washington, USD, and Northridge. Might be missing a couple.
