No.Got it. Just stumbled over the personal pronoun and wanted to make sure it wasn't a different recruit. ".....and carry on his dads legacy as an Aztec...." should have been another hint

Kentucky has just gotten commitment from PF Sasha Jones . They are also looking at W. Gabriel and other higher rated PF/C 's Huell , Azubuike , , .... who will be playing in the Elite All Star game 8/22 on ESPNU . Leaf ,Ayton , J.Allen ,Maker and others are also playing.
So maybe Cage could drop to the Aztecs ?

UA is the one we have to worry about IMO.

Mr. Cage looks like he could still suit up and help the Aztecs.

As a game color commentator, I've heard Cage Sr. say that he'd like for his son to an Aztec but he's letting him make his own decision.
Oldie Out

Can you ask Mr. Cage to move his right arm out of the way just a smidge? Thanks......

Sure wish Leaf had just stayed with U of A , as their PF .
Know U of A is after top recruit Josh Jackson SF . and other wings and guards. For PF is it De Ron Davis #31 . S. Herard #41 , or Euro L. Markkanen who is scheduled to visit on their " Red/Blue " weekend 10.16/17 ?
Former Lobo recruit M. Lightfoot has visited their campus numerous times .
Any word if Cage will come here for a visit ?
Maybe Aztecs could invite alums and their families for the opening on the JAM Center , ?

MJ is the most HYPED player on the history of the board. I hope he can live up to expectations. I watched Michael Sr play for 3 years at SDSU, I am hoping "like Father. like Son." I am most concerned about double ZZ's - Zona & Zags.

Both Rivals and ESPN show him as a PF . Believe he has also said he prefers to play PF/4 going forward .
In addition to U of A , Zags , UCLA , USC ( Bland) and the Ducks fly into the picture . CAL also could jump into the mix.
Would seem obvious that the son of one of the best Aztecs and a NBA star , living nearby in OC would get a lot of Aztec followers here . Could it be too much for him with the constant comparisons ?

The most discerning fact about Zona is that they lose their entire front court to graduation this year. How is that in a time of one and dones?

But he is a center and a center only. NO ONE will recruit him as a PF.

I am most concerned about double ZZ's - Zona & Zags. The MJ Cage thread is currently 16 pages...whereas the Norvell Pelle thread was 50 pages!!...(as an aside: I wonder whatever became of Mr Pelle?) So in fact...MJ still has a long ways to go to live up to the moniker of "the most hyped player on the history of the board"

Could it be too much for him with the constant comparisons ? He can "say" that he wants to play the "4" all he wants, but he'll be a "5" in college (because, um, "5" can still be a "PF"). Period. There might be 4 schools in the country with someone who could play the 5 to allow Cage Jr to play the 4. Regurgitating this tired angle about him "wanting to play PF" doesn't accomplish anything and erroneous.

The most discerning fact about Zona is that they lose their entire front court to graduation this year. How is that in a time of one and dones? Definitely attractive to a 1 & done PF who wants to jump in, but they do still have Ristic & Comanche, both solid bigs who could start at most places & they'll most likely return in '17. On the flipside, they have a lot of bodies to replace, especially w/o Leaf.
Plus, despite what Cage is listed at or thinks, unless he's taken ballet classes &/or significantly improves his shot, range & agility, he's not going to step into the stretch-4 position Miller likes to play. Or even the 4 period IMO. To me that means he'd be battling Ristic & Comanche for PT, whereas at SDSU.....
Cal will probably return all 3 of their bigs in '17, if they're still even a player in this.
Gonzaga would provide opportunities for him if Sabonis leaves, but they have Collins.
USC, SDSU & maybe UCLA probably provide him with the best opportunities, at least to play in '16-17.

But he is a center and a center only. NO ONE will recruit him as a PF. Good thing Fish rarely recruits guys who can play only one position. He will be listed as a Center via the fact that he'll be the tallest guy on the court for us and in most cases guard the other teams tallest player, but he's got a little more to his game than just 8' from the basket and in. He can knock down a 15-18 footer with decent regularity, can run some high ball screen pick and roll stuff, etc. If the staff has to tell him he's a PF to get him on campus SO BE IT, it's not like we run any consistent form of low post offense anyways, he won't just be camped out in the paint all day long I guarantee that.
