Incredible comeback win with 15 seconds to go against a very good Steele Canyon team!
Steele Canyon stopped Eastlake drives TWICE inside the 10 but could not do it a 3rd time.
Eastlake should be #1 in the county rankings...

Eastlake should be #1 in the county rankings... I'm fine with that. It's always harder with that #1 tag on your chest. It makes you a target and everyone wants to prove something by beating you. I'd rather see Eastlake with that ranking that Vista, to be honest. NOT being ranked #1 tends to put a chip on your shoulder and you play just a little harder because of that. Therefore I'm voting Eastlake #1 in the county!

I'm still voting Eastlake #1 in the county. They're riding a 17 game winning streak and are the defending champions.
Until someone beats them they're #1 in my book. Vista's #2.

McClure is sooo much better than Jefferson.... IF both Jefferson and McClure would have remained in the game - you never know maybe Vista would have won - you never know.... Jefferson makes no difference - I think the Oklahoma coaches feel the same way - how could they start this non difference maker for a top 5 team in the nation?

But I have asked you several times about the comparison of Jefferson being out with McClure. You insist that McClure being in would have given Vista the win and that Jefferson makes no difference. You insist that Vista lost because of McClure NOT because Eastlake was a better team that day... In my opinion if McClure and Jefferson would not have been injured early in the game - Eastlake would have still won last year. We will never know....

I've never said that Jefferson made no difference - just that the guys they had behind him came in and did a great job in that game. (The guys backing up McClure, on the other hand, didn't do nearly as good a job as he could have. I just said one was missed more than the other was, that's all. Plus McClure went out on the third play of the game for Vista. Jefferson went out much later - after Eastlake had scored and taken the lead.) Eastlake is still undefeated this year, and it looks like we may get a rematch at the Q. That would be a great game. Here's an interesting quote from yesterday's UT: “A lot of people thought Tony Jefferson was Eastlake, that he was the only thing we had,” said Titans captain Chris Fletcher, a starting slotback and safety. “We had a lot to prove, that we were more than Tony Jefferson. That we’re a whole team.” www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/oct/22/wins-eastlake-become-familiar-song-south/I still say that Eastlake should be the #1 team in the county until someone beats them.

Sounds good Erik.... Last year is now done... Eastlake won the championship - who knows what will happen this year.
This is a transition year for Eastlake because other then Jefferson they lost a lot of important seniors. So far the replacements have been doing real well. I did not think that they would be undefeated this year at this point with all the players they lost.
Yes the current team has something to prove - that they are a whole team as the quote says. I am sure if they asked Vista if they are a whole team they will say the same thing. I don't think any team wants to be categorized as a one player team.

As an Eastlake Alum, I'm thrilled by this. especially after the loss of a talent like Jefferson

Eastlake still undefeated. Still #1. Still on a collision course with Vista at the Q. Right now, the way that Vista has played lately, I'd favor Eastlake in that game. Vista has the talent, but the players make too many mistakes (turnovers and penalties) to win a championship over a team as strong as Eastlake. Having said that, if Vista stops turning over the ball and committing stupid holding penalties and personal fouls then they can beat anyone... Eastlake is good. Damned good. They've had my vote as #1 for a couple of months. Too bad my vote doesn't count in any standings...

Being overseas I haven't been able to follow my beloved Titans for almost 2 years now. Can anyone give a rundown of any potential D1 players there?

www.soonersports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/113010aab.htmlDefensive end Jeremy Beal, who leads the Big 12 in tackles for loss and is second in sacks, was named the Defensive Lineman of the Year, while freshmen defensive back Tony Jefferson was named Co-Defensive Freshman of the Year with Oklahoma State's Shaun Lewis.

What happened? Eastlake's 22 game winning streak ends with a 20-0 shutout loss to Mira Mesa??
So much for the rematch in the championship game at the Q.

lol whover thinks mcclure is as good as jefferson is just plain stupid Come on... There's a reason why Stefan was invited to the NATIONAL HS All Star game in Texas (and was the only position player in San Diego to get an invite). He's a special player. He runs and cuts like Deion Sanders but hits and tackles like Rod Woodson. As a receiver he's a threat to score on every play (and he has GREAT hands and can elevate to take passes away from DB's). Jefferson may ALSO be a great player, but don't put down McClure. Especially if you haven't seen him play.
