Seriously, no kidding. I never knew there were so many Hall of Fame baseball pundits here on AztecMesa. You either don't follow the Nats... or you aren't located in Washington D.C... Please tell us where the offense is going to come from in this Nats lineup (besides Bryce)? Werth? LaRoche? Desmond? Espinosa? Over-the-hill guys... and guys who had career years LAST year... Hoobs and I both live in DC metro, I think we know this team. They'll be fine. Further, the Nats are very well run and will be a force for years. Our starting pitching has also had a slow start. I watched Stras' previous game and his control was off. Further, it looks like he is tipping his pitches. The pitching coach is working to solve both. One thing was that they worked to get him to pitch more and not try to take on each batter and K him. To trust his team to get the outs. The problem is that his nasty stuff causes grounders to squib a little coming off the bat which has it's own set of issues. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

Man, you're so funny since... as Stu points out... actually some of us do live in the DC area, follow the team, and go to games. Also amusing that you're so certain a team with strong pitching and mediocre offense could never amount to anything. **cough, ahem** SF Giants: 2010, 2012. Not saying the Nats are going to win the World Series this year, but they are unequivocally one of the better franchises in MLB right now. I think he'll be okay.

tecpride and ccc. It's cute that you guys always post one behind the other. Two peas in a pod. It might be coincidence. As far as I know I have no idea who he is.

I haven't paid any attention to Washington, or Straus' this season. So, do they basically have the same team, and what are they doing or not doing that is creating their problems?
I would love to see him come to the Pads, or Angels, but that probably won't happen.

He'd look good in Dodger Blue. Definitely. I don't know if they could acquire him and still keep Kershaw. Money does not seem to be the primary concern of the Guggenheims. Even if it was, you can count on Ethier or Crawford being traded to make room for Puig within the next calendar year so that would free up money and Uribe's joke of a contract comes off the books this year. I know I'm dreaming though. Washington isn't stupid enough to let him go.

One year later... and the same old story for Stras. At this point, pitching for either the Dodgers or Giants would be preferable to continuing his career in Washington.

One year later... and the same old story for Stras. At this point, pitching for either the Dodgers or Giants would be preferable to continuing his career in Washington. If he keeps giving up 3 runs per outing, he won't ģet many wins on any team. He isn't as sharp as he was before the surgery, bottom line. The injury big has been awful. Zimmerman, Laroche, Harper, Gio, Cruz. ... that doesn't help. Going up against another #1 draftee didn't make it easier Strasburg was out pitched last night, despite a great start. If he's the ace, he needs to pitch like one. Matt Williams still considers Stras the ace but be honest, he isn't dominating right now. The kid that got the game winner last night said he could see the pitch. That has rarely been said. Sent from my SM-G900V using proboards

The kid that got the game winner last night said he could see the pitch. That has rarely been said. Sent from my SM-G900V using proboards It's not a question of whether or not he is 'dominating'. Throw out the one absolute clunker vs. Miami and he has a 2.80 ERA in his other 10 starts... and only a 3-3 record to show for it. 2.80 ERA is significantly lower than the league average. In his last 7 starts he has a 2.28 ERA... and only a 2-2 record to show for it. 2.28 ERA is significantly lower than the league average. His numbers, across the board, were nasty last year... and his record was 8-9. His 3.00 ERA was significantly lower than the league average and he still ends up with a losing record. Heck, Stras lost 2 games last year in which he didn't give up an earned run. Don't even get me started on the 07/24/13 MASTERPIECE vs. the Pirates: 8 IP, 2 hits, 1 ER, 0 BB, 12 SO and the L. The bullpen gives up 3 in the top of the 9th before the Nats decide to score 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th. At this rate, Stras will finish his career with a 95-100 career record. Explain how the Nats score ~ 3.3 runs per nine innings pitched for Stras when he is in the game... and ~ 5.8 runs per nine innings for the relievers once he leaves the game? Throw out the 11-1 victory over the Pads and Stras has pitched 61.1 innings this year. The Nats offensively have exactly 4 multi-run innings in those 61.1, and all 4 of those were 2 run innings. The Nats have hit a whopping 5 home runs in Stras' 68.1 innings this year... 2 two-run jacks and 3 solo jacks. Any AA team in America could accidentally hit at least one 3-run jack in 68.1 innings... or have at least one 3 run inning in 61.1. It's kinda tough to pitch when you know you have no chance at a W if you give up 2 or 3 runs. A change of scenery is needed... plain and simple.

Ok pal. I am probably a bigger fan of 37 but I can be objective. It doesn't diminish my respect for him. He'll get his opportunity to move soon enough.

So what? They have the best record in the National League as of last night.
So you find a fly speck in the pepper, 3.4 for an Ace should be enough, no? I am a huge fan, bigger than you no doubt, but let's be honest, look at Stras's ERA, it is well above the team average. He needs to figure out how to settle down at the beginning of games.
NAME ERA Tyler Clippard 1.50 Drew Storen 1.60 Doug Fister 2.20 Rafael Soriano 2.59 Jordan Zimmermann 2.92 Tanner Roark 2.93 Stephen Strasburg 3.53 Gio Gonzalez 4.06 Team Ave 3.08

This thread fails harder every day..lol Sent from my SM-G900V using proboards I'm a Strasburg fan... you're a Nats fan... try and separate the two. You may be happy with Strasburg winning 60 games in his career... I'm not. Thanks bullpen for blowing yet another victory for Stras by blowing a 5 run lead in the 8th inning.

Lol. Best record in the NL. Championships not individual achievements. I don't recall soriano blowing a save in a Strasburg game but I do recall several wins when he was pulled after getting shelled.
Get some balance. I am certainly one of his biggest fans, he was coached by a classmate of mine but he's had a rocky season on his own. He deserved a win today but it's baseball.

Lol. I watch or listen to nearly every game.
Recommendation: get some balance.
They've got the best record in the NL despite his high ERA, above the team average. Championships above self.
