Yup but Fisher never makes needed changes.

Anyone who is 6-8 and can make a shot within two ft of the basket should be playing. That leaves out O'Brien.

Yup but Fisher never makes needed changes. Yes I know. We have ZIPPO rebounding at both ends the past 3 games - - and Coach Fish insists on playing O'Brien and sitting Skylar. I'M JUST NOT GETTING ANY OF THIS !! WHAT IS FISHER THINKING ??!!

there is one J.J. O'Brien that starts on every team...nobody knows what this type of player contributes....he isn't fast, he can't jump through the roof, can't shoot the lights out....so we classify him as the cliche 'high-motor guy". it's the only reason we can come up with...either that or he has incriminating photos of the head coach.

He made the wrong decision to stay small to end UNLV game, allows Jamaal to ball hog, keep JJ in there missing the easiest shots, sits Shepard down a lot in the 2nd half of UNLV game when he was on fire, never gets Johnson any minutes, keeps playing Brickster Rahon, keeps playing Stevens over Spencer even though we all know Spencer is way better, etc. He needs to let Shepard take over this offense but he won't. Shepard moves the ball as opposed to Jamaal. Jamaal is the reason chase can't get any open looks.

I truly believe Spencer and Stephens playing together would be MUCH more effective than JJ and Stephens. We immediately get bigger, we subtract a bit of ball handling for rebounds, defense, and a strong matchup group. We've been saying it for a while but JJ just isn't cutting it getting starter minutes. A change needs to happen and I think that would be one of our best options.

He played the 3 at Utah and scored 15 on us plus 11 ppg a game. He misses two footers because he is not a post player. Fish needs to stop making him something hes not. I watch a TON of college bball which doesnt make me an expert but heres what I see: Play two bigs. Get the ball out of Jamaals hands at the point. We miss Thames. JJ is not a 4. James Johnson needs more minutes. Let him try more than 30 seconds or redshirt. We have the size to get nasty but we continue 2011 REDUX without Garret Green and Shelton. This team has no BIG motor guy, NO Holcomb, TDavis, Malcolm, or Billy. We have Jamaal but at 6'5 you can only do so much. Wyoming said, with Xthames on the bench, take Ctap and Jamaal out and who can beat us? answer, no one! Shep (PG) CTap (2 guard scoring) Jamaal (3) Spencer (defensive big) James Johnson (offensive big) or Deshawn.

I'll ask again - - - why is it that James Johnson is not given any minutes to begin with ? Since becoming an official member of our team, the guy seems to never play. This is not by accident ! It's not like Coach Fish suddenly has forgotten about him. Johnson obviously does not impress Fisher either at practices, or the limited time he plays in games. Johnson could be a major bust for our team ! He could simply be a transfer recruit that Fisher blew it on...believing his talents were far more than the guy has.

Spencer turned around the UNLV game with his defense and give good defense and a shot blocking threat. His offense is raw but will improve the more he plays, I agree that I would like to see him get a lot more minutes.

For me, if Skylar never scored a point in a game, but was all-in on defense blocking shots and messing up scoring lanes, I would be popping corks ! The guy KNOWS his game - - he KNOWS he is "defense" first and formost. He doesn't try to be someone that he is not, focusing instead on his scoring. Doesn't do it ! He is a force on defense, and rebounding - - and we cannot seem to get even one rebound on the offensive or defensive boards - - so why not put Skylar in to DO JUST THAT: REBOUND !

why just this year? this has been Fisher's M.O. forever... Which is why he's a horrifically bad coach. Rather than four consecutive 25+ win seasons, we would have four consecutive undefeated seasons if it wasn't for Fish.

Shep (PG) CTap (2 guard scoring) Jamaal (3) Spencer (defensive big) James Johnson (offensive big) or Deshawn. Right now, yes, however I wouldn't start Shep over Thames once X is healthy again - assuming that actually occurs.
