Shepard was impressive last night. He handled the point well for a true freshman.
I was impressed with his overall composure(unlike the overall team performance during last night's win.) He did not lose his composure, and did not rattle under pressure. Especially when the game was on the line down the stretch. His unselfish play certainly played a major role in the gritty win last night. He has certainly grown a lot since the beginning of the year, in terms of his overall maturity.
As impressed as I was with Shepard's overall composure, Thames was sorely missed(in terms of scoring), more than I thought he would be, vs. what was supposed to be one of the league's bottom feeder's.
Needless to say, the Tecs DEFINETLY need a healthy Thames vs. a much improved, senior laden, experienced guard oriented squad in Colorado State Saturday. Without him, I am nervous.
Any new updates on Thames' back and status for the game Saturday?

I love the progression from Winston. He just looks better and better out there.

Just hope he is the gym with Jamaal working on his free throws, other than that great game.

Free throws and an outside shot. Those things can be improved by hard work. I hope he has the work ethic to improve, because you give this guy a consistent jump shot and he will be a freak!

He looks like he's trying to be cool at the line. He does the Kevin Durant shoulder shake. He should lose that until he starts making them consistently.

He needs to be a floor general .... right now just a captain. the nice part .... getting better. In the Arizona game he would drive in .... but when he got stopped ... he didn't know what to do. Looked lost many times. Last night he had better vision and more of a plan, good assists. But, there were times he should have kept going, faked the pass and completed the play. He's getting better at the command position. ... going to be a great player for us.

He isn't going to be starting at point anytime soon, but he will be called upon to play major minutes at that position. When X is in, there's a certain "flow" or feel he brings to the game. It goes beyond the numbers. The offense just runs smoother. That said, Shep has tremendously improved and is playing with a lot more confidence.

As Shepard matures and enhances his offensive game, he could be a triple-double guy on a regular basis. It's going to be key for him to spend 4 years under Fisher developing his game.

Crazy to think that an 18 year old actually gets better with more playing time under his belt? I thought we could predict their career after the 1st three games?
I'm not surprised at all with his play last night. The more he plays the better he will get, he obviously has a ton of talent. I also think Polee is going to be a force next year with more PT.

He may be able to get drafted in the 2nd rd on potential after 2 years, but after 3 or 4 years of College, he'll be able to make an impact.

Winston needs to start every game now.
When Thames comes back the starting 5 needs to be: Thames Tapley Winston Jamaal Stephens
Love this lineup and think its our best. I've really not been impressed with JJ so far this year, and see him more as a role player coming off the bench. We need Shep on the court more. He's only getting better and better.

I remember when BBA used to say all his assists were to his big guys for easy dunks...fine by me haha, worked tonight. Just not true. Dude slings the ball all over the court. Don't get me wrong, he's great at threading the needle through a crowd down low to a big man. But he can also pass anywhere he wants to. He had a great assist to Rahon on the arc for a trey. Also, had a really smooth, sweet no-look leave to Taps on the trailer down the lane for an easy layup. WSIII really needs to work on his outside shooting and FTs. Without an outside shot and a FT shot, the full potential of his game is really neutered. He's great at using his size/mismatch to drive the lane and draw a foul. However, that play is generally useless if you can't convert from the FT line. Especially in a tight game down the stretch. And because he can't shoot from the outside, guys cheat off him on D all the time, giving them the advantage. Could you imagine if he could drain 15-footers or treys? Defenders would have no clue how to square up against him. Do you get a hand up and defend the shot? Do you step back, get your hands up and try to clog up the passing lanes? Or do you step back, crouch and defend the dribble drive? If WSIII could shoot from the outside, every defender would be his b*tch. But he can't. So for now, he's simply an assist machine and a really solid defender. Which is pretty good. But not great.

He seems satisfied when he makes one of two free throws. That is unacceptable and could have cost us the game. Other than that, he had a solid game. Haha what?

When he makes a free throw, he smiles like he won the lottery or something. He should expect to make his free throws every time and be surprised when he doesn't.

Don't think he'll ever be a perimeter presence, but he will develop a mid-range jumper. Then it'll be over. Game, set, match.
