SDSU has ZERO chance if every getting into the PAC 12. USC, UCLA, CAL,STANFORD, will never being in the same conference with a commuter school with second rate academics. Thank you for that insight, jackarse.

I know two graduates of Stanford law. Both are brilliant. One was a two-term president of the board of a large school district and has more clients than she knows what to do with. The other has an ego bigger than the Pacific Ocean and can't seem to keep telling everybody how brilliant he is. His career hasn't quite gone as well. The former Trojan is headed in the same direction. No bueno since having attended U$C and Stanford, he's going to have a lot of student loans to pay off.

The fact is, we gambled and lost. Sterk can only look at what's on the table now and decide. Plus, the clock's ticking... What clock? I originally thought like you but THIS is a fact. That clock is nothing more than a deadline we have to meet in order to guarantee the MWC has to let us back in IF the two parties agree to the terms for us to do so. That's it. Things the clock does NOT do: 1. Prevent SDSU from simply staying with its original plan of joining the BE/BW for 2013-2014. 2. Prevent SDSU from renegotiating its deal with the BE and/or the BW before we join on July 1, 2013. 3. Prevent SDSU from negotiating a return agreement with the MWC after January 1. On the final point, does anybody really think that a good businessman would want to have UTEP in conference rather than SDSU? Good businessmen (apologies in advance for the sexist term) don't operate out of emotion, they operate to enhance their bottom line. The MWC needs a twelfth member and viewed from that perspective, the choice between SDSU and UTEP is no choice at all. SGF, the fact is that right now there is a choice to go one way or the other. After said date passes by, we are even more at the mercy of being "selected" by whomever will take us. Look, either way, I support the school. But to hear so many bashing and throwing tantrums threatening to give up season tickets is exactly why we're still viewed as a mid rate program...

Assuming SDS doesn't get the same deal as BSU, does the BSU deal give Sterck the political cover to stay in the Big East?

How the local media covers it will make a big difference.

How the local media covers it will make a big difference. Then Sterk is f****d because the local media, not named Stefanie Loh or Mike Costa, are T-Shirt basketball fans.

For a state school that needs money, the Big East/West is a better option. Yes, it will hurt the basketball program in some ways but it will help in others. It will help every other athletic program as well. It's a tough decision to make, and I trust the people in charge to make the best one. All we can do is stick together, support the program, and win.
