If this poll is an accurate representation of the SDSU fan-base, then regardless of what happens, SDSU will have lots of fans that might be alienated. (As of this posting, there are 72 votes for staying in the MWC & 77 for staying in the BE) I'm going to support SDSU regardless of what they do (and see below for what I think), I wonder if this whole episode is going to drive away the few donors that SDSU has? Once a decision is made, Sterk needs to really communicate well what the decision is and why it was made. Make it heart-felt. Don't make it sound like "corporate speak", etc. I don't care if it pisses off the MWC/Big East... I personally think that staying in the MWC would be best for SDSU: 1) From what it sounds like, the other schools in the conference will absolutely despise SDSU if they return to the MWC. If the team is competitive, stories about how bad SDSU was treated at road games will develop an "us against them" mindset in the San Diego community. There is a chance that we could develop some rivalries within the MWC that way, and develop a fan base. 2) Basketball. I'm a football fan first and foremost...I've had season tickets to football since I graduated in 2000, and attended most games while a student during that period, and I've never had basketball season tickets. That being said, the basketball ride these past few years has been fun, and the MWC provides the best chance at sustaining that momentum going forward. 3) Doesn't hurt progress towards a Big XII invite. (Which I think is unlikely right now). With Boise in the MWC, it's likely the strongest non-AQ conference going forward (especially if Cinci leaves, too). Winning the conference will get us a birth in a BCS 2.0 game. Start winning a few of those, and SDSU will start to get some attention from the "Big Boys" 4) The worst-case scenario in the MWC is better...I fear that the Big East might kick SDSU out if they have a few down years. (They did that to Temple a few years ago). I suspect that many people in the Big East aren't excited about swallowing the costs to travel across the country for their some football games. If we have to go independent, we'd immediately be associated with Idaho and New Mexico St. as an unwanted team, which is a very difficult label to shake once it gets applied. +1 Well said.

And you keep the department floating how? I know some people in Tampa that were very excited to travel to San Diego. Same guys that went to ND and 2 other cities. These were USF fans. San Diego is kind of a destination city.

Just a quick question: why do the other mountain west schools "despise" us all of a sudden and not want to let us back in?

I'm not sure that they all do, as someone else mentioned, this source could be Utah State's d-bag president that ran around gloating over the project and I'm sure hates when Weber said Utah State adds absolutely nothing (which they don't, except to Retired)

We should go back to MWC for now until we get invite from PAC12 or any BCS conference.
If we go BE now, we get a little more money for 2013, and get to play UCON, CIN but what will happen after that?
UCON and Cin will leave ACC or BIG10,and BE get no AQ after 2013,so money we will get from BE will likely be less than MWC.
Also, if SMU or HUSTON leave BE to MWC, we will be left in BE with all the old CUSA team.
We will be better position in MWC to get invite from PAC12 than BE after2013.
Everybody will completly forgot BE after C7and UCON,CIN leave BE. C7 might take BE name with them.

Like none of that is correct.

Just a quick question: why do the other mountain west schools "despise" us all of a sudden and not want to let us back in? "Despise" is too harsh a word. As posters go, many of you are an arrogant bunch -- as only the fans of a school that has had some recent success after 20 years of abject failure can be. You rather quickly acquired an overblown sense of your own importance and worth -- confusing the benefits of market size with actual accomplishment. And Sterk's comments kind of fed into that. As a result, I think a lot of MWC fans don't so much despise you as root for poetic justice. They want to see you get the comeuppance that they feel you so richly deserve. Hey, you asked... Yoda out... .

Why do they hate us? The 'basketball schools' UNLV and UNM have fewer MWC titles than we do yet they try to pretend like we got good at basketball last thursday The other schools can't win any f'n sport even if the conference sponsored tiddly winks.
A bunch of spiteful little dbags

Like none of that is correct. I'll correct some. BE will lose AQ after 2013. C7 will leave BE after 2015. UCON and CIN will leave whenever another BCS conferences invite them. SMU and HOUSTON might leave to MWC. We have better chance to get invited to another BCS conferece if we stick together with BSU. BE will be Tulane, East Carolina,South Florida ,Temple,SMU,Houston,Memphis etc.... We have to pay exit fee if we decide to come back to MWC if we stay BE until then. We just need to wait until another oppotunity to come(hopely PAC12 ).

Yeah, let's stay with a bunch of teams that nobody wants because they have no value instead of teams that might leave because they are wanted. That's like saying, lets stay with Chuck Long because he isn't going anywhere instead of hire a dynamic coach like Hoke who might leave in a couple of years for a better job...

Reading between the lines, Krebs really hates Sterk right now. Would make a great Celebrity Death Match, frankly.

It could be anyone really - they are a bunch of bottom feeding fish with both eyes on one side whose lifeblood is spite. I don't know why we would want to realign with people that think like they do.

Yeah, let's stay with a bunch of teams that nobody wants because they have no value instead of teams that might leave because they are wanted. Um, aren't you trying to get several of those schools that nobody wants to go with you because you want them? Full western division, remember? And it's not like the nBE doesn't have a bunch of crappy C-USA football schools in it. In fact, the whole thing doesn't make sense. Most of you want to take a crappy UNLV football program with you and have no objection to joining crappy Memphis, Tulane and maybe other football programs -- but you trash programs that are better than those three. That's why I favored a new conference. Both conferences have some good programs and both have some crappy programs. Either way, you don't escape the bottom of the barrel programs. Yoda out... .

Less than 15 years ago, WE were a bottom of the barrel program in every sense of the word, that just happened to play games in America's Finest.

A 12 or 16 team conference centered around the Rockies, what could go wrong?

Yoda, pleeeeeze stop.
Doncha think SDSU would be fully in for creation of a new conference? However, to channel monty, your school and the several other halfway valuable ones in the MWC have contented themselves with bending over and spreading their cheeks for Boise and the several We're Goin' Nowheres of the MWC.
Just admit it. You Fresnans wish your school had the balls to actually try to separate yourself from the WGN. However, for whatever reason, you just go along to get along.

Not an easy decision for the AZTECS AD, until he knows Money BE and SDSU gets going forward from TV and can we get a Western Division for all sports-important .From the MW , what kind of Money/% , TV, Bowls will they allow our SDSU to receive.and TV rights Houston and SMU , if they were to leave the BE , how much do they have to pay, as exit fee, who is going to pay it. Would like to be in a conference with them. TV market and recruiting.
