Big game to SDSU. No one else cares, not even BYU really.
However, to lose the last game of the season in a bowl game does not help the psyche in the offseason.

To answer the question of this thread - No, I don't think the loss matters.
- Recruits aren't going to de-commit because of it
- A win or a loss isn't going to make for any significant increase/decrease in ticket sales for next year. The marginal, bandwagon-ey fan who might get inspired by a bowl win is unlikely to plunk down for season tickets.
- The loss isn't going to have any bearing on whether we win or lose any more games next year
We diehard fans who live and die with our team are upset certainly and think the sky is falling. But we tend to take things to extremes. The average fan does not, and would not have been much more motivated had we won. This was the P bowl, not the rose bowl.

just another hill we couldn't get over. we went 3-4 versus bowl teams this year, our coach is now 0-2 in bowl games here after going 1-4 at his previous spot. 8-9 wins should now be the expectation, but it's also likely the limit until something capital wise (new stadium) or staffing wise (some hot shot comes in when rocky retires in 4 or 5 years, of course we could be back to being a losing program).
The significance is it just reaffirmed what we are - not much.

I at least need to just get my expectations in order - I expect to go .500 against the teams with a pulse, I expect us to not play any better at home versus decent teams, and I expect us to lose a bowl game. But, at least we'll be in bowl games and have a team that will slop up the scrub teams and fight against the teams with a pulse.

We're a football school without football fans. Very well put.

I love how after 7 wins in a row, rocky is the guy. After one loss where we outplayed the favored team for 3 qtrs before the qb turned it over four times in one quarter, rocky is no longer the guy. Beyond ridiculous. My opinion of the guy hasn't change one iota from what it was before the season began and the same is true for a number of others. You are correct about half the fans here, however.
