serious questions for the fire rocky crowd.
1. would you say that our offense has for the most part improved as the season has gone on?
2. did this board not spend ungodly amounts of time during the offseason talking about the ?'s we had on the defensive line and all the problems that can arise from having a young and inexperienced defensive front?
3. are the problems on defense we are experiencing right now mostly associated with having a young and inexperienced defensive front? (i.e. lack of pressure on the quarterback giving him all day to throw)
4. if you answered yes to all 3 questions, how can you rationally call for the firing of our coach?

I'm not a negative nellie, rather I see a sinking ship that is going no where other than drowning.

Since these are leading questions, i'll answer the real questions
1. Ludwig has control of the offense, not Rocky 2. Who decided upon and recruited undersized lineman; who has had 4 years to recruit lineman 3. The problem is also undersized linebackers that also get bullied. The problem is then exasparated by sending 3 lineman and 3 linebackers at the QB play after play even though they never get there, i.e. you don't have to sack the qb every play - and when you only have once in over 80 pass attempts, it's time to install something else 4. What was on Harry Truman's presidential desk? If he sets the style of defense and the style of players in that defense, how then is it someone else's fault that we get pushed around up front? Guys that are 1-8 againt bowl teams and have a 315k buyout and have caused the program to turn back into a morgue should be fired

Is it an either/or? Lose by getting stomped or a 4th quarter collapse to every team with a pulse we play or win a national title? There is some middle ground in there, no?

OLI, the answer to that is a resounding....No. well, then we obviously should stay with a mediocre coach for the next 10 years, right?

6. If the admins opened the vault and brought in your ideal coach, will SDSU football to win a National Championship in the next decade? Almost certainly not. But if they brought in my ideal coach this program would be a consistent top 25 team that wins 90% of their games against average teams like SJSU and FSU.

OLI, the answer to that is a resounding....No. So you're saying that even in every experts best case scenario we'd still need to fire that coach for being a loser?

Yea, because we're clearly demanding Retiree Long win a national title by beating SJSU and/or CSUF Hence my part serious/part sarcastic question. Personally, like Ryan, I can't foresee a situation where we will win a championship in the next decade even if we brought in a Saban, Meyer, Carroll, etc. Your thoughts?

I think the more appropriate question is:
What does it take to be Number One? hey hey hey hey...

You can't even be part serious. Rocky won't lead us to a big east title, but I certainly believe a much more capable coach can. I don't believe my thoughts on Rocky are documented in any of these 34 threads on the subject, but, that aside, my questions was about ones respective ideal coach and if they thought said coach could get the Aztecs to the pinnacle. If winning the Big East is what will qualify as "success" to the masses (short or long term), then go ahead and fire him. The PPG group stepped-up to buyout CL, so I'm sure if enough concerned supporters stepped-up they could accomplish the same fate -- by step-up I should clarify that I mean money, not faxing posts from a message board and sending harshly-worded emails complaining and making idle threats -- but something tells me that a BE Championship won't appease enough people and the Aztecs will still be "failures" because they only finished 17th in the AP Poll and couldn't beat a SEC team in a bowl game. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Hmmm... I have not call for the Rock's head yet.
However, I just need to answer "NO" to one of the questions.
1) The offense has not improve at all. It pretty much relied on the running game and Katz's scrambling. We all knew the running game was the strength of the offense. The intermediate passing game is very inconsistent and it's not gonna get any better with Katz scrambling for his life. On top of this, the two OT are getting destroyed every week, even the likes of ND. The higher score against FSU included 2 pick 6. Traditionally the Aztec cannot score on mid to top level PacFudge teams so the low score against the Huskies cannot be compare to the scores against Fresno, ND, and SJSU for offensive stats.
