Because doctors do not go into their profession to help people unless they profit from it. That seems to be the right's logic in this one.

How about training more doctors. ;D Eliminating or rationing Health care to millions is the result of ObamaKare and potential Doctors see they can't make a living that way. Putting a top on price is further restricting care by discouraging the prospective of Doctors from entering medicine. You can't train more Doctors if no one wants to be trained. |

Doctors spend one helluva lot of time and money to be the best in their profession. If they can't make a damn good living why in the hell would anyone want to be a doctor? Especially since they expose themselves to lawsuits which defending themselves could wipe them out financially.

This is why you need to take the profit motive out of healthcare. America has the best healthcare in the world, the health coverage however isnt. You cant have a system where your profit is rewarded by reducing services

That is the most puzzling statement that I have read in . . . well, almost ever! Becoming a medical doctor is one of the lengthiest, most costly undertakings imaginable. Obviously, no one sets out to by a physician unless he or she has a sincere desire to serve others. But there must be a reasonable financial reward for putting in all those years and running up the bills necessary to complete the process. If we decide that doctors should be paid the same as plumbers (with no offense intended to plumbers, who offer a vitally important service), we should also expect to have a lot fewer doctors. Let's see; you are a bright 18 year old right out of high school. You have good enough grades to get into college, but uncle Stanley owns a plumbing business and is more than happy to take you on as an apprentice plumber. You will be earning (for an 18 year old) a decent wage from day one, with prospects of having a career in a vocation that will never be outsourced to China. Or, you can go to college, then medical school, then residency, and by the time you are in your early thirties you are a full-fledged medical doctor with several hundred thousand dollars of loans to pay off. Furthermore, by that time you may, effectively, be an employee of a government unable to pay its bills and which, therefore, is going to force you to accept wages similar to what you could have been making as a journeyman plumber by the time you were about 25. Yup, that's the ticket. I'm sure under those circumstances there will be millions of young people eager to impoverish themselves so they can end up working for the government. But, hey, no problem. As a government employee, you may be able to join a union which will go on strike for higher wages. And that will work until the whole government ends up like Greece. At which time you will be told, like that city in Pennsylvania, that you must accept minimum wage because the government is bankrupt. Sounds like a great plan to me. AzWm |

I see William didn't respond to this at all sans his doctors should make a ton of money. Although teachers didn't spend as much for their education, why is it right wingers expect them to work for 20 grand less (state of AZ) starting with a masters degree than the average person with the same level of education? If it's the hours, think again. Although teachers get a lot of days off, their total hours works in a year matches or exceeds the 9-5 business hour stiffs. So why no noise about them being entitled to more money like doctors? I love how they get on libs for entitlements. lol |
