Yup, and that's why it was disingenuous to have this 'competition' - it's basically insulting to stage a fake race and then say you lost it.

He was “unofficially” named the starter the day he decided to transfer. Does not give me much confidence in our backup Quarterbacks. Then again that is next seasons problem if he stays heathy.

If you read Brian Sipe's answers to the questions posed by the NC Times, then you will realize that Dingwell is good enough to start for us.
It also states that he will see game time this year. Hopefully, he gets to throw a pass unlike last year. It definitely seemed like there were opportunities for Dingwell to get more time in games last year, but it didn't happen for whatever reason.

Yup, and that's why it was disingenuous to have this 'competition' - it's basically insulting to stage a fake race and then say you lost it. I went through this in the last volleyball practice before the season at State. After being in the program as a walk-on the year before and then working hard in the off-season to get a spot on the full-time traveling team, it was down to another walk-on and myself. He was a good player as well but a different skill set. I was stronger at the net and he was a better passer. We were told at this practice that the last spot would be decided on how we practiced that day, which included several knock down/drag out scrimmages. To be quite honest and even though I am a pretty humble guy, I owned the net that day in practice. I was on fire and had several huge blocks against the starting team and was putting shots away. At the end of practice, they pulled the whole team around and gave it to the other guy. They said that there would be much movement up and down throughout the season. I got moved up 2 different times and never got in one of those matches. I traveled with the scout team and played a ton in those games, but the coaches credibility was lost and I ended up leaving at the end of the season to focus on playing beach ball instead. At that time, there was just as much men's volleyball talent on campus that was NOT playing for the team than were playing for the team.

Katz has been the better noticeably better performer from day 1 is all. I think his experience helped him as much as how he has performed since he got here in the coaches eyes.

I would have gone with the younger guy as well. Its a no brainer really. Now next year we'll have another unproven QB and I would have gladly sacrificed a few W's this year for an equal number of L's turned W's next year due to QB experience. Next year's our one shot at the BCS and we need to use this year to prep for it.

You don't sacrifice wins this year for wins next year. You put the best team you can out on the field every year. If Dingwell was almost good enough to start this year, he'll be even better next year, with another year of learning and mop up duty.

I'm sure Dingwell is pissed, but he'll deal with it. If Katz was a junior and "handed" the position like now, then that's different. Dingwell knows it's his job next year and needs to be ready because I get the feeling Katz is going to go balls out to justify his presence.

Katz led OSU to an upset of 20th ranked USC in 2010 with a final score of 36-7...I have a feeling he won't be shaking in his boots against anythign the MWC will throw at him.

Didn't see that bump coming. (Ok sorry I'll leave)

According to Scout we have no pending offers to a QB.
Looks like Dingwell (So.), Barnards (Jr.), Jeffreys (RS Fr.), and Morin (Fr.) will battle for #1 in 2013.

Nearly every game should be close.
