According to Scout we have no pending offers to a QB. Looks like Dingwell (So.), Barnards (Jr.), Jeffreys (RS Fr.), and Morin (Fr.) will battle for #1 in 2013. Favreau grey shirt...

I would have gone with the younger guy as well. Its a no brainer really. Now next year we'll have another unproven QB and I would have gladly sacrificed a few W's this year for an equal number of L's turned W's next year due to QB experience. Next year's our one shot at the BCS and we need to use this year to prep for it. They haven't even played a game yet. Don't be surprised if Rocky does play Dingwell a number of times. You are jumping to conclusions. I'll wait and see.

We NEED to be bowl eligible this year to prove that we weren't a flash in the pan. You don't sacrifice wins this year for wins next year. You put the best team you can out on the field every year. If Dingwell was almost good enough to start this year, he'll be even better next year, with another year of learning and mop up duty. I really don't see much "mop-up duty" this year. Nearly every game should be close. At a minimum, Dingwell should get a quarter of playing time against North Dakota and the University of Not Likely Victory.

I'm glad they made the decision early - you can't have your QB competition go all through fall camp, like we've done in the past.
Also think you play for this year, play to win every game - you never know what’s going to happen in the future with injuries and eligibility etc... play to win now.
One thing we haven't done very well is getting our backup QB’s enough snaps - even when we've had comfortable leads (or been getting killed).
