I am a huge college hoops fan living in NYC. Born and raised in CT. This year I expect SDSU men's hoops to be a Top 10 team for most of the year. Over the last several years I have posted on several message boards. Is this the only message board that SDSU basketball fans have at their disposal to share thoughts with other fans? UNLV has Tarkanian Court Board, UConn has the Bone-Yard and most teams like Tennessee ect...have great boards for the fans to discuss without commingling all sports on 1 board. If this is all you guys have (disorganized) for a board I wish I could help create something better for you. This years SDSU hoop team could be very special. Let me know. Thanks! A couple for you.... aztecskillinghim.com/www.youtube.com/watch?v=binzjh1dE6g&feature=related"To whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?" Isaiah 46:5 There will NEVER be any comparing the SDSU cheerleaders vs. UConn cheeleaders. SDSU=HOT HOT HOT! LOL

I also agree that we should separate football and basketball! I think it is a reasonable thought to ponder considering. Of course reasonable minds disagree. It just seems to have some basic logic behind the thought process. Apparently my UConn handle hasn't gone over to well here BUT I am a true believer in the prospects of this years team (and I'm not talking just sweet 16 either). You guys deserve it! Enjoy!

Wish I could attend practices (they used to be open years ago). However, last year I heard that O'Brian and Pollee
don't have a heart attack BBA
were as good as Jamaal in the November practices. I have talked to players who have played with O'Brian in the ARC, and they say he is a "killer". When Fisher signed O'Brian, he said he is a future NBA player. Pollee is every bit as athletic as Jamaal, but I am not sure he has the same work ethic. If he has worked on his shot we will know quickly within a game or two.
Johnson has grown 3 inches since coming to the Aztecs. At 6'11", I want to see if he has learned post play.
Stevens has improved his defense over the summer, but his shot still needs work.
We have other really good players, but as I have said before, most players take a year to get good at Fisher's defense.

If we can come out and beat AZ, UCLA, and Syracuse, we will stick around the top 10-15 for a very long time. That is my hope. It will be tough to get back up to #4, but anything is possible with this lineup.

I will forever hate Uconn for the Kemba flop It was a flop he told me himself. Genius move though right? Changed the whole game 1 play. Franklin is a better player for it today. This year he could be cutting down the nets. Yes, that it did. And thanks for the recognition. It's nice to know we're getting some OOC love from the BE fans.

Funny thing is, Jamaal does a lot of that type of stuff and started really doing it last year. So he did learn a lot from that move. He doesn't flop like Kemba did. However, he is great at drawing fouls especially in the open court on some unsuspecting big man. I think coach Fisher is already targeting the mentality it will take for SDSU to get to ATL. With regards to Franklin his capabilities to lead even if jointly with tapley/and X is going to be the determinative factor or intangible necessary to arrive at the ATL. Kemba literally cooked (curry goat and oxtail) for the team on player meeting nights where players aired all grievances. Team chemistry was off the charts. JF needs to take some of that Kemba magic and continue to put it in his back pocket. Thats what the team needs. Although not always the norm I think the teams success will go a long way in determining his draft stock. Being a UConn fan (banned from tourney play) and parlaying that with a passion for college hoops has left me empty and without a home! So for all intents and purposes I'm homeless! NO team to root for with a chance to cut down the nets! For basketball fanatics like me we have to have another option! I'm not bailing on UConn I'm appreciating another team!

With regards to Franklin his capabilities to lead even if jointly with tapley/and X is going to be the determinative factor or intangible necessary to arrive at the ATL. Tapley needs to stop his disappearing act. Against New Mexico at Viejas he sat in the corner all game on offense. X needs to stop making key turnovers late. It cost us vs. the Rebs at Viejas East in Vegas and one other game...if I were high I could remember. I'm nit-picking at two of our best players. I see no reason why Jamaal cannot evolve into that leader. His progression since he arrived is amazing.Kemba literally cooked (curry goat and oxtail) for the team on player meeting nights where players aired all grievances. Team chemistry was off the charts. Tim Shelton was the glue guy last year. I have no idea who would step up. Jamaal or Tapley seem like a natural fit. JF needs to take some of that Kemba magic and continue to put it in his back pocket. Thats what the team needs. Although not always the norm I think the teams success will go a long way in determining his draft stock. Also NCAA performance. As a team and individual. He needs a better outside shot and get better handles. He can blow most players away in college using one hand. In the NBA, he won't be able to unless his name is Jeremy Lin. So it's like us a few years ago during bowl season?[/quote]

If DeShawn can play lock down defense in the Malcolm roll, then it doesn't matter if he can't dribble he'll be hard to take off the floor. We have weapons, Stephens really needs to hang his hat on help defense, stopping the ball in the lane and altering shots - if he does that, sky is the limit with this team

When he gets the ball, just foul him. Odds are he won't make his FTs.

Keep in mind that this is a ProBoards operation. That means that it's free! I suspect that in many cases other schools' boards are professional operations, which is understandable because so many of the top schools derive huge bundles of money from their rich alumni fans.
I, too, have visited a number of other fan boards. Frankly, some of them are a bit obtuse in my opinion. The ProBoards format is not without its shortcomings, but it is clean and pretty easy to use.
Look, if fans want to engage in discussions of their favorite sports, they can do it just as well here as on other boards. I would suggest that posters can help by making sure that their thread titles are as clear and meaningful as possible. That would include identifying which sport is the topic of the thread. On that question, I must say that sometimes posters choose thread titles that are not terribly clear.
It's important to remember that not all fans know as much as you do; if you mention Ricky Sweatmeister a lot of folks may have no idea what the thread is about. A reader who's never heard of the guy is likely to shrug and then go to the next thread; if the thread title gives the reader more information, that same reader may decide the thread is worth checking out.

If we are forcing teams into hack a (de)shawn then we are going to be really really good If they have no depth and the fact we have other options inside. Last year we lacked the latter which made the former irrelevant. But if we face a team like U of A with a lot of front court depth that strategy may not work.

Last year we lacked the latter which made the former irrelevant. But if we face a team like U of A with a lot of front court depth that strategy may not work. regular fouls plus the proposed hack-a-shawn will lead to lots of 1and1s and 2 shots on touch fouls for Jamaal, Taps, etc
