Fair enough so the point is? You would prefer not to have a separate men's hoop board? I find that hard to believe considering I was at The Honda Center for the UConn vs SDSU Regional semi in 2011. This is a great fan base. We like football as well. There are some that are BB only but many like both and polls over time have borne out a strong preference for combined. Thanks for your positive thoughts and interest, many here are on guard because we get a lot from other schools that have hidden intents. I hope we can get in a tradition of home/homes with UConn hoops. That would be awesome. Best to you. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards Thanks for the feedback. Home/homes would be awesome. I am very down on Calhoun right now. Thats for another day and another board! I am thinking this for a starting 5 for SDSU: Tapley Franklin Thames Shephard (Huge addition/Please learn from your mistake) Polee II Rahon (6th man) Am I way off here? Best Always!

Hell, this board got into an internet brawl over separating recruiting. The biggest problem with separating them is, what do you do with non sport specific stuff like tv deals, critiquing the AD, president, the university itself? Do you then have to have a 3rd general forum, well, what about the daily Strasburg farted threads or you dbags need to go watch womens water polo threads, so now do we need an other sports forum?
If we do go to separate forums I propose they be called:
Recruiting forum is changed to the Ceremonial First Pitch Forum Football is named the Chuck Long Deserves Another Year Forum Basketball is named the Jamaal Franklin Forum

I figured it was him. Too obvious. His style of posts gives it away.

Lots of people here think Stephens will start, but I am more on your page. I don't see how Polee is not in the starting five - he was the California State Player of the Year in High School while Stephens didn't even play high school basketball. As far as Shephard goes, he may eventually start but it will take him time to get there, especially since he got into a little trouble in the off season. I think O'Brien starts earlier in the season with Polee and then Shephard will take time away from Polee, O'Brien or even Thames. Rahon will be one of the first off the bench to help out with Thames, Tapley, and Jamaal. Fisher has a lot of lineup options with his players. The key is for all of the talent to play team ball.

I will forever hate Uconn for the Kemba flop It was a flop he told me himself. Genius move though right? Changed the whole game 1 play. Franklin is a better player for it today. This year he could be cutting down the nets. Funny thing is, Jamaal does a lot of that type of stuff and started really doing it last year. So he did learn a lot from that move. He doesn't flop like Kemba did. However, he is great at drawing fouls especially in the open court on some unsuspecting big man.

This guy rules. What's he's really trying to say: "SDSU bball is about to blow up even more and perhaps you need a more organized forum moving forward to deal with the increased attention, and I can help you." There are other boards around, but this one has the highest number of registered users. That sums up my intent in a nutshell. Very well articulated and precise. If my team had the best returning backcourt in America (Franklin, Tapley, Thames & Rahon) I would want an organized board dedicated specifically to a team with a great chance to be in ATL the weekend of April 6th. My simple point is it is harder to navigate around this forum than others. It is not meant to insult anyone. I love your team this year. Obviously I need a second team to root for since my team is banned from every tournament known to mankind this year! LOL Thanks for clarifying bro... I'll take you at your word and give you this advice. UNLV is a steaming pile of crap athletically. Consider that LV is almost as big as SD and it's a major vacation spot just like SD so UNLV has just as much going for it as our school. And if you check the MWC board, you'll see Rebels brag - annually - about what a great hoops recruiting class they had. However, we've won 9 of 11 from them in that sport and they can't even win the conference basketball title on their home court. Plus their football program is one of the half dozen worst in the country and their stadium is to hell and gone and half the parking lot isn't even paved. Par for the course for a program which during six of the last eight seasons has won exactly two games and which since moving up to the FBS level has had exactly ONE winning season. Then there's their AD. The day after the U of A fired Jim Livengood, the Arizona Republic had an article pointing out how virtually every one of their major sports had declined in quality on his watch. Nevertheless, UNLV hired Livengood within several months thereafter. Rebel trolls come in here frequently, no Aztec ever posts to their board. Nevertheless, their fans continue to say how they won't miss us and shouldn't schedule us after we leave the MWC. Bottom line is that particularly at this point in time, UNLV might have the most mismanaged athletics department in the country. So if you want to be accepted here, don't EVER say that UNLV does anything better than SDSU. (Hell, we suck at baseball but they're even worse than us in that sport.)

LOL Ironically, many of us have commented how much we like this forum because it is so EASY to navigate. Some of the other forums for major schools out there downright suck and we have made fun of them.

Lol. I think he raises a valid point, though. Even now, I sometimes feel we need a bball forum separate form all the others. I understand we are in the "dead" period right now, so a counter argument can easily be made. Take a look at the total number of threads in this combined forum (~18k). To put that in perspective, Auburn's Scout football forum has over 100k. The Tarheel's basketball forum has over 63k and even their football forum has 28k and they blow at football. Of course those are much larger fanbases with forums that have been around a lot longer. This board only recently started after the great migration from AztecTalk so 18k is pretty decent for a couple of years. But there is no need just yet for separate boards. Once the traffic warrants it then absolutely. Thanks for the info. Interesting...

Just because the so called "big schools" do it differently, doesn't make it better.

Not too far off Tap Franklin Thames Shepard Stephens BTW: I think organizing this forum would be awesome.... It was just an unbiased suggestion with no malicious intent with regards to the message board. I understand football is also big at SDSU. That is 1 of the main reasons I thought it was rational to contemplate separate boards. Other intelligent and respectful posters (including you) on this thread provided some insightful information on Aztec board status ect ect... Considering Stephens logged 18.7 mins last year and started three games the natural progression would be for him to start. Especially considering he will be a Senior. I would be more inclined to agree if Stephens could hit at a .57 % clip from the line. Unfortunately with the competition he faces (Polee II) .397 is a liability. Last year watching Drummond at the line brought tears to my eyes. Andre was a lottery pick however. I think Stephens has earned the right to be the leader for the starting spot when practices start in October. In the end I believe Polee II will prove to be the better player. Of course looking at the big picture (TEAM) it really shouldn’t matter but competition is great and SDSU will have plenty of healthy competition! I expect the obvious which is a sharp rise in production this year from Polee II. A full Big East season has value. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/dwayne-polee-2/gamelog/2011/Have a great day!!!

I am a huge college hoops fan living in NYC. Born and raised in CT. This year I expect SDSU men's hoops to be a Top 10 team for most of the year. Over the last several years I have posted on several message boards. Is this the only message board that SDSU basketball fans have at their disposal to share thoughts with other fans? UNLV has Tarkanian Court Board, UConn has the Bone-Yard and most teams like Tennessee ect...have great boards for the fans to discuss without commingling all sports on 1 board. If this is all you guys have (disorganized) for a board I wish I could help create something better for you. This years SDSU hoop team could be very special. Let me know. Thanks! A couple for you.... aztecskillinghim.com/www.youtube.com/watch?v=binzjh1dE6g&feature=related
