Julius Wilson commits to SDSU per ASR on twitter. Wilson looks like he could start as a freshman. Start? IDK. Play, yes.

Expect Vaughn or Isaac to hit the road now. Fine. I'd rather have Cumberland and that would open a scholarship for him.

I think this inexplicable move by the Admin has already sent cold waves throughout recruiting. The coaches may be body-snatching and back filling.

Words, I fail to see what you are writing about "inexplicable move"? If you are refering to the return to the MW that move was the only logical move rather than the "Big E" move. He "Big E" was unable to give SDSU even a projection of what to expect $ wise. The Big E is attempting to replace such traditional schools such as Syracuse, Pitt etc, with E Carolina, Tulane etc,. and the networks aree not going to bid for games that viewers have never heard of.
YOu are right on about the grab bag of recruits that we are going after. We haven't one commitment from any of he original recruits we offered. This is ging to be a poor recruiting class and will not be in the top 5 rated classses in the MW.

Why dropping BE plans would make them go somewhere else unless BCS offer? Those two have been soft verbals for a while now, so the move has nothing to do with it. When was the last time a JC guy came in and started on the O-line? I'm not talking about spot starts but a consistent starter.

This is ging to be a poor recruiting class and will not be in the top 5 rated classses in the MW. I bet there are a number of grayshirts in this class, including Tyler Morris. He was injured this year and missed the remainder of his season, plus they want him to be a LB now. That doesn't happen overnight. I'm sure there are some academic concerns in the group as well. This class might not be jaw dropping but compared to the rest of the MW, it's consistent.

This is shaping up to be a good class.
I don't put much stock in the Rivals ratings now because they just don't cover us as closely as they used to. Also, where we are in the MWC doesn't mean all that much because the composition of the conference has been in flux. So in reverse chronological order, here are our ratings nationally by Scout:
2013: 64 right now, as James said, behind Boise but far ahead of the next highest rated MWC member 2012: 72 2011: 93 2010: 77 2009: 100 (transition b/t UpChuck & Brady) 2008: 96 2007: 81 2006: 85 2005: 74 2004: 50 2003: 55
The 2003 and 2004 classes were illusory. As the much despised but often accurate Bret Schrotenboer pointed out in one of his articles, 48% of the signees from those two classes either never suited up or played just one year, mainly as the result of academics.
So I'll toss those aside as well as the 2009 class since Chuck was fumbling around and SDSU spent considerable time finding a GOOD coach to replace him so Brady and his guys had virtually no time to save the class.
The average for 2005-2008 and 2010-2012 was 84. Obviously, 64 is considerably better.

The two highest ranked classes were probably our weakest. In fact, those classes showed that one of the biggest problems the program had been having was attrition, not lack of recruiting stars. Sure, I'd love to be winning battles against USC for kids, but that won't happen often. Plus, you take a kid like Kwayde Miller, who had big time offers, and he was barely a 3 star by ASR. Add to that guys like Siragusa and Maass, who were not as highly recruited, but are generally considered more D1 ready. The systems are inaccurate and nothing to get hung up on. Fun, but nothing to stress about.

Stock in each and every rating for a recruit? No. Stock in the bigger picture of each team? YES. Teams ranked near the top do well. Teams ranked near the bottom, suck. So obviously, the higher your team sits in the recruiting rankings, the better your chances. Add a superior coach and voila`.

Ron, as I said, Rivals ratings of SDSU don't mean all that much anymore. I've asked Augustin and Ruben why we aren't covered as well as we used to be and it's apparent the topic is embarrassing to them. They're just employees and don't make personnel decisions and for some reason, Rivals has decided to devote less attention to our recruits than used to be the case.
ESPN has never bothered to rate classes past the first 25 so they're irrelevant to my topic. Or to put it another way, I think the best way to judge the quality of this class in comparison to everybody's else will be to see how Scout and 247Sports rate it after LOI signing day.

Just a guess here, but I think Rivals coverage of schools outside of the top 25 will be closely related to the number of insider subscribers. I don't believe we have that many insider subscribers. Like I said, just a guess. GO AZTECS
