So you don't know either? IT WAS 1993! so a guy ends up being a head coach at a mid-major 20 years after he left the Aztecs and you're questioning it.... or do you think its Rocky's fault? Look, I'm not sure where you came up with your self-righteousness. Please use on others that are affected one way or another. Why would I think it anything to do with Rocky Long? If you're trying to support your man, I get it. That's fine. You and I disagree. Let it go.

What the hell are you talking about? I asked a simple question because I was curious. What the hell is wrong with you? Do you fancy yourself as the Rocky Protection Team? Seems that your entire day is consumed with swatting back all these "little" people who don't follow the "company" line, as YOU fancy it. Kind of our own Aztec Rocky Gestapo. It's fine to be Rocky's apologist, but I submit it's time for you to lower your estimation of YOUR self-importance.

But when assumptions are made that are off the wall and you insert yourself in someone else's thread, you're just aggravating. If that's your intention, well good for you. But if you're trying to add something, that ain't workin'. And the way you come off sometimes, yes, I think you do wish you could ban anyone you disagree with.

It's nobody's thread and it certainly isn't yours. I'll "insert myself" in whichever thread I choose.

Note for myownwords and others who worry about this stuff. Here's Rivals' updated rating on where we are nationally (in parentheses) and in comparison to the rest of the nBE: Rutgers (40) - 1020 pts. USF (48) - 980 SMU (50) - 945 Cincinnati (51) - 915 Houston (54) - 840 UConn (56) - 825 UCF (66) - 690 Louisville (68) - 630 Boise (71) - 570 SDSU (71) - 570 Temple (74) - 510 Memphis (81) - 390 Navy (104) - 135AFA (104) - 135 Fresno (116) - 30 For some reason, DeRuyder hasn't done diddly squat in recruiting. OTOH, Curtis Johnson has been kicking major butt at Tulane. That doesn't surprise me in the slightest. SGF, we apparently are where I assume we'll be on signing day, partly from the very few recruits we'll have, compared to most. But didn't you say to not hold much credibility with Rivals? Fresno is surprising. But then so is Rutgers. I would have expected Louisville and Rutgers to be in reverse. Rutgers: Some friends and I have a football pool in which you rank games according to your confidence a team will cover the spread. (You can pick the fave or the dog.) I watched most of that one because I had Tulane as my highest pick to cover. I did so because I thought Johnson would be a lot better than Toledo but also because I think Kyle Flood is just a guy. Right now, Flood's recruiting is benefiting from having replaced the best HC in Rutgers history. However, I see them slowing regressing under Flood. Louisville: I don't know why their 2013 class isn't better but Charlie Strong is the antithesis of Flood and UL should be the best team in the BE by the time we get there next year. Fresno: They had a bad 2012 class but since they changed coaches, that was to be expected. However, they still have just one commitment for 2013 and it's a PK. As I heard Mike Leach say several times on Rivals Radio when he was on, you can afford to have one bad class once in awhile and it won't hurt you much. However, said Leach, two bad classes in a row can destroy a program. So if I was a Bulldog fan, I would be getting really nervous that DeRuyter doesn't seem to be able to close the deal with anybody.

Well, wouldn't you visit Hawaii for free too? Yea, I'd visit too but I'm not worried. Hawaii is an absolute mess. Hawaii went 3-9 last year and 1-7 in conference. They finished last in the MWC (behind UNLV and NM) and it's only wins were at home over Lamar, South Alabama and UNLV. Who knows, maybe Long encouraged him to keep his options open?

Would think that the Aztecs now have him as a "soft acceptance" as well. Meaning if we get a big commit and need the scollie it is up for grabs. Works both ways doesn't it?

It never bothers me as much to lose a JUCO guy as a HS stud. Much greater chance for academic problems and most only have two years of eligibility anyway.

I had thought about this idea as well. In the end it is the kid with the leverage and us with credibility of character at risk.
