I think Gordon's going to average around 17 ppg, 11 rbs. And New Mexico's going to be in the top 25 all throughout the season.

I think the top MWC teams will have a few talented bigs this year specifically NM and unlv. NM is obviously loaded with Gordon and Hardeman ... but sophomore 6'9 Bairstow has put on close to 25 lbs and should be much stronger than last year. However, NM did lose 6'11 Kirk, probably for the season, and super stud freshman 6-9 Jarion Henry will not be eligible for the year and is actually in San Diego after enrolling at La Jolla Prep school.
I also think Carlos Lopez will push his way into the starting lineup and have a breakout sophomore year for UNLV.

New Mexico had Gordon and Hardeman last season and look what happened to the Lobos.
UNLV had Lopez last season and look what happened to UNLV.
In their senior year, players have a different attitude and an agenda. New Mexico's G&H may have a totally different attitude as to how they play their final year of collegiate basketball.
Their attitude could be good or bad. Who knows? Gordon could have come to SDSU, but did not want to play second fiddle to Thomas, White and Leonard. Lopez is not senior, but I agree that he may get more minutes this year, but SDSU bigs can neutralize him.
This upcoming season team reminds me of the 2009-2010 team that had limited BIGS. We had Carlwell and Thomas. 2010-2011 team will have Green and Stephens. Hopefully, Green and Stephens will be effective on the boards and in the paint.
If not, I anticipate that the next season's Aztecs team will run and gun!

Gordon was only allowed to play spring semester last year so this year he has a full year to work with their team ,plus make or break his case for the NBA.(thought he was speculated to be the best player in the MW- Do not really care about his NBA career. Our two bigs include a JC transfer - who had surgery and a 6'11 transfer ,who did not start the majority of games last year at LSU. Back ups are Shelton - 6'7" great player but history of bad knees and 6'6"Williams -who has only played a few minutes.

This year's going to play out like 09-10. Except Gordon's going to be more of a beast than Hobson. MWC player of the year fasho. That means for sure.

I like the Aztecs chances with their two BIGS. Specifically, Green may surprise all of us. Checked some stats and noted that he had good games against Wichita State and Miss. State.
Re-call, Aztecs front-line did not totally dominate Wichita's State frontline when they played. Green put up a double-double, 15 and 13. Against Miss. State, Green put up 12 and 8. Renardo Sidney was playing the Post for Miss. State that night and he is 10x better than any big in the MWC!
Against Kentucky, Green put up 13 and 9 in Rupp Arena. I believe Green is going to get an opportunity to do what all players want to do...play significant minutes! Also, I believe Tim Shelton is going to play more minutes than he did last season. And, if Stephens can defend, rebound and block shots, Aztecs could win 20 games or more next season.

If someones does a job keeping him off the boards he can be stopped. His 1 on 1 moves aren't imposing. He won't be the best big we face this year. Now his little brother on the other hand...(Aaron Gordon) that guy will be an NBA 1st rounder some day.

Gordon's the same height as Malcolm Thomas, but 30 lbs heavier.

Gordon's the same height as Malcolm Thomas, but 30 lbs heavier. Yes, they list him at 6'9....he's closer to 6'7...Malcom Thomas measured 6'7.5 at the combine. Gordon's athleticism and motor makes him appear much bigger than he is.

Gordon's athleticism and motor makes him appear much bigger than he is. What's this horse manure about "with shoes"? who ever played without? Not to mention, standing reach and vert leap with and without steps are much better indicators of "size" than the height of the guys head. Some of those combine numbers remind us of how its all relative anyway with big ole Jimmer at just over 6' v 6'3" in the program. Always reminds me of Wiz Wooden and his psych of listing players shorter than their actual height -
